Hi,

I have converted some HDV60i (Apple Intermediate Codec) clips to DVCPRO50 NTSC 720x480 Anamorphic using Apple Compressor.

These clips look great when played in QT but appear slightly blurred / pixelated when viewed in FCP through the MXO to Apple Cinema 23'. The display is setup correctly in FCP - some SD NTSC Anamorphic clips I have in the same sequence display fine. I have FCP Video Playback to MXO DV NTSC 16:9 - YUV (720 x 480).

FCP 6.05
MXO driver 2.1.4.05

Would be great if I could get some help with this issue. I am being told by people who know Compressor that I must have my FCP/MXO setup incorrect. I really don't understand whats going on but am working to a deadline and bit worried! I can't tell if I have a problem with my FCP/MXO setup or a problem with my settings in Compressor but until I get a definitive answer from one side of things I can't move forward.

i have tried the same compressor settings on a SD clip and a HDV clip: SD clip looks fine in QT & FCP/MXO whereas HDV clip looks fine in QT but not in FCP/MXO.

Here are my compressor settings:

Encoder:
Video:
Compression type: DVCPRO50 - NTSC
Motion: 29.97
Compressor: Best
Scan Mode: Interlaced
Aspect Ratio: 16:9

Frame controls:
Frame controls: On
Resize filter: Best
Output fields: Bottom first
Deinterlace: Better
Adaptive details: Unticked
Rate conversion: Best
Set duration: So source frames play at 29.97

Geometry:
Frame size: 720x480
Pixel Aspect: NTSC CCIR 601/DV (16:9)

Thanks.

Hi trifin,

Would you be able to send us the before and after clips? I can private message you our FTP information if you like. We will try this here with our footage to see if we get the same results.

Regards

Peter

hi,
I would really like to get to the bottom of this issue so I can continue working.
Why is it taking so long to PM the ftp details?

Hi,

Sorry about this but I am bit frustrated here.

I made my initial post over a week ago but I have got no where. Can I have some sort of explanation?
I am going about this the wrong way? Should I call your support number in Canada from the UK?

I can't work and I am worried about not meeting my deadline and letting my client down.
