I've been using CS5.5 pretty successfully for over a year and have downloaded the CS6 upgrade with a view to upgrading as I don;t fancy paying a monthly amount!

I am a little nervous doing this as I cannot afford to be without the edit suite for more than a day... I've also read about conflicting versions (6.0.4?) causing problems.

So, what I need is the definitive guide to upgrading with the MXO2, including which versions have been certified and what order to do the upgrade.

Also, any comments from people that have done this would be really useful.

Many thanks

Graham

Hi Graham,

If you are upgrading from Adobe CS5.5 to CS6, make sure no other previous version of Adobe apps are running. Try running the Adobe cleaner tool to remove any remaining or corrupted files from previous Adobe versions.
Here is the Adobe tool: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/829/cpsid_82947.html

You could try the following for a clean reinstall of Adobe and Matrox drivers:
- uninstall current MXO2 drivers
- run the Adobe cleaner tool on your system, which should remove all Adobe versions, CS5, CS5.5 etc..
- reboot the system and run the cleaner tool again, making sure all Adobe entries are removed
- install Adobe CS6 suite and perform updates (Adobe Product updates can be found here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/) Premiere should be 6.0.5
- after updates are performed, download Mtx.utils 7.5 drivers, unblock them if needed and disable UAC
- reinstall MXO2 drivers and power cycle the MXO2

When installing the MXO2 drivers, please follow the steps below:
- uninstall the current MXO2 drivers
- download and right-click the Mtx.utils exe file and select Properties. Under the General tab, click unblock (at the bottom) if it is seen.
- Make sure the UAC option is turned off (set to Never Notify in Windows 7 settings) before running the MXO2 setup * may need to reboot
To disable UAC option or set it to Never Notify in Windows 7, please follow this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787
- Run Mtx.utils setup and then make sure a full reboot and power cycle is performed (after install is complete, shutdown PC, disconnect MXO2 Mini power for several seconds, reconnect power of MXO2 and then power up the PC)
- re-enable UAC option if needed

Here is a link to our Supported Applications for 7.5 drivers: http://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/support/windows/mxo2/doc/en_Matrox_MXO2_Supported_OS_and_Applications_7.5.pdf

We hope this guide is helpful and clear.

Absolutely.

I've been using CS6 for ages now. No problems at all.

Thanks again Sam

My hardware is well in excess of the specs.

I have an Nvidia GTX470. Do you have any info on which driver works best with CS6/MXO2?

Many thanks

Graham

Premiere has reported issues with the 320 series drivers. I do not know about the newer ones that have just been released, 327.23, but I use 314.22 successfully.

Thanks Alan for your input.

Graham, the latest NVIDIA driver should be working fine now. See this post for previous documented NVIDIA driver issue: http://forum.matrox.com/mxo/viewtopic.php?t=13022

The latest Premiere 6.0.5 update supports the latest Mtx.utils 7.5.0.1960.

Not a problem. Let us know if you need further information.

If you decide to upgrade your NVIDIAd rivers, make sure to properly remove the previous driver and perform this step before installing Matrox software drivers.

Eeek I'm using driver version 296.10 so a while behind...

I wonder if its worth doiung this BEFORE uninstalling Premiere so I can verify the video driver works before upgrading?

What do you think?

Well - I took the bull by the horns and so far, all is well ... seems more responsive than 5.5 but that could be wishful thinking...
Fingers crossed now
Many thanks to all
