I have installed 2.1.4.05 on my imac 20/4gb/core2duo/10.5.5/fcp 6.05
but still i get audio noise during playback.

What can I do?
According to this it should be fixed:

"Please be advised that there is an issue regarding audio noise during playback when using an ATI Radeon HD 2600 display card. This issue is resolved in Matrox MXO version 2.1.2. Click Here to download.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hi nanook,

The fix you are referring to is with the ATI Radeon HD2600 and you have the ATI Radeon HD2400.

Please note that we have not tested the ATI Radeon HD2400 with the MXO. If you try using one of the video cards we tested such as a card from our tested MACs list here or tested video cards here do you still get the same audio noise?

Regards,
Matthew

you are right.
i thought the latest imac 20 worked as well ...

the "old"
"iMac 20-inch, 2 GHz Intel Core Duo"
is part of your list. - why not the latest one (core2duo)?

why the 24 inch version of the core2duo imac - but not the 20 inch version?

couldn't you please publish an update for it?
thanks!

Hi nanook,

What tested 24-inch iMAC are you referring to?

The tested computer list is updated as systems are validated.

As we here in Tech Support are not responsible for testing new systems, and although it is not exactly a feature enhancement, if you would like to see more tested systems, please post this in the Product Features Enhancement section of the forums so the product managers can see your request.

Regards,
Matthew

Hi nanook,

Please do not take this to mean that the entire system was tested. A video card is an easily swappable item on a computer and it may have been tested with one of our other tested systems, such as a G5 or Mac Pro. You'll notice that on this link the second item on the list (Mac Pro 8-core. Two 2.8 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon) was tested with the ATI Radeon HD2600.

Matthew

Actually, on an iMac, the video card is not an easily swappable item. In fact, it isn't swappable at all.

I am having the same issue as nanook. It's an awful pulsating static. Kinda embarrassing to have to explain to a client.

20" iMac, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2400, OSX 10.5.6, FCP 6.0.5, MXO version 2.1.4.05

Hi mjohnson,

As I mentioned to nanook, we did not validate the 2400 for use with the MXO. If you test on a system with a validated display card do you still have the audio distortion?

Matthew

There are no issues on a system with a "validated display card".

When can we expect an update to address the audio problem with the ATI Radeon HD2400?

I am having same audio problem with MXO on my 2009 imac 24 inch 3.06 ATI HD4850.
Also, despite spending hours carefully calibrating Dell 2408 monitor and following user manual instructions to the letter, my footage looks lousy coming through MXO DVI.

Also tried on older 2007 imac .. audio problem not there but same problems with vision.

Despite apparent "correct calibration" via proc amps in mastering mode with color bars etc. When footage is viewed via FCP ( using all recommended settings )
whites are blown out & colors washed out & ugly.

I am getting much better and apparently more accurate monitoring going through video mode on the Dell without the MXO. When compared playback on 3 LCD TV's the MXO graded footage looks the lousy by comparison.

Also tried on older 2007 imac .. audio problem not there but same problems with vision.
I've wasted much time trying to get this device to work for accurate monitoring but thinking now of giving up.

I've read many of these posts .. there are polite questions asked by support about peoples problems with MXO but very few seem to be resolved.

Have Matrox people given up on this product .. not supporting newer Macs and OS's .. perhaps more interested in selling newer Matrox products.

MXO does NOT work as advertised!!!

Hi csound,

Please understand that when you buy a NON VALIDATED system or a system with a NON VALIDATED video card we can't guarantee that you won't encounter any problems. That said, recently we've been working to validate the ATI Radeon 4870 and we also encountered audio distortion. You should take note of the fix we posted here earlier this week.

As for FCP giving a better output then the MXO, can you please list your Easy Setup, your sequence settings, your settings under the RT button on the left-hand side of the timeline, and also your setting selected under View>External video when viewing the FCP output compared to the MXO output.

Regards,
Matthew

The linked patch does not fix audio problem with iMac 3.06 2009 with ATI Radeon HD 4850.

Link mentions fix for ATI 4800 series but but no luck here. Carefully followed procedure but still bad distortion.

Easy Setup settings:
Playback Output video:MXO uncompressed 1080 25p YUV
Playback Output Audio MXO audio

Sequence setting MXO XDCAM HD 1080p25 (35 Mb/s VBR for Sony EX1 footage)

Video Playback MXO uncompressed 1080p 25 YUV or RGB (1920x1080 )

RT: Unlimited RT - Scrub High Quality - Dynamic
