Hello,

Today I bought a MX02 Mini for capturing gameplay on my Xbox 360.

Ive been trying to get it to work all day but so far I haven't really gotten anywhere.

My rig:
MSI P55-GD65
I7 860
MSI 5850
ProLite E2209HDS
Xbox 360 Elite which is connected trough HDMI to Matrox MX02 Mini who is then connected to my monitor.

First after setting everything up I had a flickering screen all the time, first thing I did was checking all the cables but they were all fine.
Rebooted didn't help, reinstalled drivers didn't help.

Then I didn't work on it for a couple of hours and I decided to try again and it suddenly works fine :O
I noticed that my Xbox only wanted to do 1080i instead of 1080p like normal while the MX02 Mini should be able to 1080p afaik.
I decided to leave that and test if recording worked did 1 race of Blur and seemed to work fine untill suddenly all the sound was gone.
Turned the Xbox/Mini/PC off and tried other HDMI cables but that didn't help either.

What am I doing wrong??

I changed the PCI card into a other PCI-E slot(8x instead of 1x) which didn't help at all...
Still flickered and I noticed the sound was fussy, then I decided to capture with CS4 instead of Matrox AV Tools and guess what!?!
IT WORKS Very Happy

Took me atleast 6 hours but it nearly works like it should now.

Only question is left is, why can't I select 1080p?
1080p support was the whole reason I bought the Mx02 to begin with ;o?
Anyone has an idea?

Hi,

Thanks for your detailed feedback and update on this issue. Glad to hear your issue is now working.

Can you confirm what resolution you are capturing in? Please confirm your Premiere sequence and capture settings. The MXO2 Mini should be able to capture 1080p @ 25 and 29.97fps, but capturing at 1080p@23.98fps is not supported. Also make sure the sequence setting is not set to 1440x1080p as these resolutions are not supported in capture as well.
For more information, please see page 174 in the MXO2 User Guide under Capture formats supported on MXO2:
http://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/support/windows/mxo2/doc/en_Matrox_MXO2_Installation_and_User_Guide_2_0.pdf
In addition, take note that when capturing HDMI embedded audio, only uncompressed embedded audio is supported.

Hope this information helps.
Regards,
Sam

I just tested what would happen if I instead of capturing the Xbox I would capture my second screen.
Well it looks like this http://www.converthub.com/working/done/bc66c344367e6ce40d921ca619f58ae8/flikker.jpg
Its blurry and its pink instead of blue.

This screenshot was captured by Matrox AV tools, because Im not able to get a signal at all on the monitor >.<
This has lead me to believe that the signal the MX02 mini is sending is to weak and thus the monitor ignores it.

Ugh want to buy edit button >.< clicked submit instead of Preview again :S

Anyhow

With those settings I only get these options in my Xbox 360

While if I connect my xbox directly to my monitor it displays 1080p just fine.
Also tried it in Matrox AV Tools but also cant put it on 1080p then!

Hi,

We are unable to see the image of settings you posted in previous reply.
After you click on Matrox 1080p 29.97fps preset, what capture settings do you configure?
Can you confirm what the settings are?

Regards,
Sam

Sorry about the image, here it is

So as you can see the option for 1080p is greyed out.

I don't change any of the settings since they all seem correct.
Here a screenshot

The image link is not working. Can you send us your screen grabs via email to mxosupport@matrox.com? Please zip the images and send to the attention of Sam.

Hi,

The Xbox 360 HDTV settings are not controlled by Matrox. If you cannot set the 1080p option on your Xbox360, this not unrelated to Matrox software.
Can you select a 1080p preset with the Matrox software for capture?
Please confirm with your Xbox manual for further instructions on how to select the 1080p output setting.

Regards,
Sam

Well I can select the 1080p settings if I connect my Xbox DIRECTLY to my TV. As soon as the Matrox is between it it only allows me to select 1080i or lower.

The matrox AV tools settings are here:

Hi,

Have you tried setting the Xbox to 1080i and capturing in a 1080p preset in Matrox mode?

Regards,
Sam
