|
|
Hi everyone, got a bit of a problem with my systems system and really bad playback of XDCAM EX files. It's really slow and unresponsive, even selecting clips takes a few seconds for it to register, and it crashes with annoying regularity. This only occurs on matrox timelines, using Premiere's xdcam timelines seems to play and respond fine, although it means much more rendering.
I have 2 identical workstation running RTX2 CS4 systems (regularly updated):
Core i7 S116 2.80GHz
8GB RAM
Redeon 4650 512mb card
Vista Business 64bit SP2
The error that comes up in Premiere when creating a Matrox 1440x1080 sequence (even in a brand new project with no media imported yet) reads as follows:
'Realtime playback not supported ? Insufficient display card memory.
Matrox has detected that your display card has insufficient onboard memory (256mb or less) to support accelerated Adobe Premiere Pro transitions and multiple-hardware accelerated effects per segment in Matrox 1080p and 1440x1080p sequences'
The strange thing is, when I view the graphics card properties in the display control panel it shows as 512mb, yet when I right click on the Matrox X.info and open up the hardware properties, it states 'Total Video Memory: 240mb'. The driver file version in 8.17.10.1094 if that's any help. Also checking in dxdiag, and the video memory in there is coming up as 240mb.
I get the same error on both identical workstations whenever I create a project using those Matrox presets.
I've read somewhere that there is a known issue with directX graphics card memory reporting, but if Premiere is seeing it as having less memory then 256mb is this disabling the real-time features?
Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. |

additional:
Sometimes when I render effects on the matrox sequence, there are a few frames of red screen on the rendered previews, but these are not shown when the file is output as h264 or avi. |

additional again (this may be an unrelated problem):
This little gem pops up every now and then, usually after a tricky bit of editing which will be a pain to repeat exactly:
Project Save Error:
An unkown error occurred while saving the project.
Select 'Save As' from the file menu and save the project to a new location.
Save As produces the same error. I try to let the autosave catch up and save the day, but the autosave files don't update.
Usually my only solution is to restart Premiere and redo the last bit of work I did, when the save function usually works fine again. |

Hi,
It seems you are encountering a memory problem.
Can you confirm your Adobe CS4 version and RT.X2 driver version? _________________ Regards,

Premiere CS4.2.1
Matrox Mx.tools Version: 4.2.1.177
Do you guys have UK/European support staff who can come on these forums? The time delay really slows down the process....... |
