|
|
Okay, this is brand new. I just got tapes in from a client shot in HDV on a Sony Z5u, and they are 60i 1080. The tapes play perfectly fine in the Sony Z1u camera and a Canon ZR40. I try to capture and I get an error message saying there is a problem with my 1394 device and cannot capture.
I tried 24P settings and 60i settings in Matrox 1080.
What is wrong with this?
Matrox RTx2 and RTx2 LE (on Edit B). Both have 6 gig of RAM and i3 processors. Adobe CS4.2.1
Any ideas? |

HDV cameras have the option of downconverting HDV to DV on the 1394 output, and are often set that way by default. In the Sony camera VTR menu, look for "i.Link Convt" and set to OFF. Also look at "VCR" and change to "HDV" - it should have options of HDV, DV, or AUTO.
The Canon camera will have similar options, but they don't call it i.Link, but you will figure it out.
Next, turn camera OFF and disconnect 1394 from computer. Close Premiere. Now reconnect 1394, then power up camera. Should get a beep or onscreen notification that the device has connected. Now launch Premiere and try to capture HDV.
If PC still not recognizing the camera as HDV, and you've never connected an HDV camera before, it could be your version of Windows is not set up for HDV devices. There are some settings to change in Control Panel, I forget offhand what that involves, would need to Google it, but please try the cameras settings as described first.
Thanks

The output of both cameras are set for HDV. I can digitize other tapes with the same cameras. It's just these tapes from a client. They play fine on the LCD of the camera, but not allowing me to digitize from IEEE1394 firewire.
The Canon has allowed me to digitize 1080 60i, and even 24f. This is the first real hiccup I've ever experienced. |

Wow, that makes no sense. You can always just capture via HDMI using the Matrox codec then. Takes more space, but quality is excellent.

Sorry, was thinking in MXO2 terms. You can use Component to capture to RT.X2 using Matrox .avi codec. Will still look very good.

| I ended up having to go to the Ohio Center For Broadcasting where I teach to digitize to MPEG2 HD in Adobe CS3.2 and then converting it. Thank god this wasn't a crucial project! |

| Yes. I think it was the camera not having compatibility to my camera or deck. |
