So I've been a Matrox Customer since the RT2000 days. For the most part, I've been a very satisfied customer.
I purchased the RTX2 for the two main reasons:
1. Real Time Editing features
2. DVI Monitor Output
My primary system has the NVIDIA Quadro CX display adapter and the RTX2. Looking at the direction Matrox is headed based on postings on this forum, I'm not seeing the need for the RTX2 moving forward. (I can survive without #2 above)
I've got CS5 sitting on my desk and plan to make a decision next week. Please tell my why I should leave the RTX2 in the system.
Thanks!

| Same question here. I've got CS5 running on Win 7 x64 with 8g memory and a Geoforce GTX 285. Very fast. It takes a lot of effects and multiple tracks to slow the thing down. The system is also sturdier than anything before, including RT-X2 projects; it hasn't frozen yet. So I too am wondering why I need the RT-X2. I guess I'll try it then decide, but so far I'm inclining toward removing the card. |

Hi!
I have the feeling that Matrox is unable to use many of the old features of the RT.X2 with CS5 without a huge of work and manpower. I seriously believe that the only way forward is through the MXO2 series. Personally I'm going to get a mini/max series which does have all the features left out by the "Tools" BETA.

I'm also thinking along the same lines - however one feature I do use is the Component out from the RTX.2 Break Out Box - I use this for monitoring the timeline output which is really useful for colour correction and checking if I have any wierd field issues (which I often get from using 3rd party filters such as Mercalli).
What other card would be good for monitoring the timeline output via component?
Also, talking about the RTX.2 BOB - have they cured the analogue capture yet? I'm using CS3 but still get black "flashes" when trying to capture from Composite or S-Video via the BOB.
I haven't really used CS4 - but am thinking it might be time to upgrade to CS5 on my Windows 7 64 bit system?
Any thoughts and advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim |

You can always toss in a BlackMagic IntensityPro card for HDMI/Monitor Output. |

I have been using the RTX2 with CS3 for some time now. I had hoped that 64 bits would improve matters. However there is obviously a problem using it on a 64 bit set up. You might think that CS5 would speed things up with the card - but it appears to me that Matrox have taken so many useful features away that you might have to ask the question - why try to use RTx2 in a 64 bit environment ?
That said it is still a great system using CS3 and 32 bits !! |

ie Why I should keep RTX on my current system
64 bits & RTX Card hasn't worked the way I expected. However using CS3 in a 32 bit environment, despite the known problems does actually work quite well ie it's low cost. I suspect that a future way forward with 64 bits & Matrox is not via the RTX2 |
