Hi all, we are finalizing our HD editing system build and we are currently looking at a Matrox RT.X2 card but have some questions regarding compatibility becasue based on what the site shows currently, our components are not on there but thought I would ask. Here are the "main" three:

-ASUS P6T7 WS Supercomputer LGA 1366 Intel X58
-Intel Core i7-950 Bloomfield 3.06GHz LGA 1366
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 295

The last item is really about our third monitor (reference) setup. Our two reqular monitors are the Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP and the GPU is the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 295. Even though I am still a fan of CRT's, the LCD's are getting better and are needed for HD. Two of which, the Panasonic BT-LH1760 and the Sony LMD-2050W we have access to. We use Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. For the Reference Monitor and HD-SDI, I know we need a PCI-e card.

I can't answer the hardware compatiblity issue, but will comment on the monitor setup.

If purchasing the "full" RT.X2 card (not LE) with the DVI output, you can use 1920x1200 LCD monitors like your Dell for editing/color grading. With CS4, Matrox offers a calibration utility with color bars which will enable you to get accurate color from an inexpensive 24" LCD.

Matrox downgrades the Premiere preview window, so you will NOT want to use the Premiere output from graphics display card for preview, use Matrox through the DVI or Component HD analog out from Matrox breakout box.

Through Matrox, you WILL get full 1920x1080, full frame-rate video output while capturing, editing and previewing effects.

Thanks autumn...yesI wouldn't use the 2 Dells 24's for monitoring. They are not at that level. We have the Sony (LMD-2050W - 1680x1050 (WSXGA+) professional video production monitor. The two Dell's will come out of the Nvidia 295 but the Sony, will come out of the Matrox RT.X2 card (if we go with that). I have researched the three cards we are considering - RT.X2, the Blackmagic DeckLink HD Extreme and the AJA XENA. Again, with Premiere Pro CS4 and our hardware components, I want to make sure everything works before making that investment.

With regards to your enquiry, please note that we've tested a very similar configuration with the RT.X2 and performance was excellent. This setup that you've listed above is a supported configuration and we do not foresee any issues with it...
