Does MXO2 display from Apple Color Full Res SD pixel for pixel or some sort of scaled approximation? Is the SD image of quality to ***** subtleties in footage such as grain and sharpness with a 10-Bit Quicktime source in Apple Color?
Will the MXO2 provide color accuracy continuity between applications on our system? In other words a 10-Bit Quicktime played back from the Final Cut time line will look identical when played back from Apple Color, Quicktime & After Effects via the MXO?
Thank you,

Hello J,
The quality of video displayed by the MXO2 out of all applications should be the same. The MXO2 interfaces with QuickTime and thus uses the QT engine for the encoding and decoding of the video. So, the MXO2 will work with any app that supports the Quicktime Vout component and because it's Quicktime doing the playback, the video should be the same in all the supported apps.
As for now SD is done and if it's pixel for pixel. All the outputs of the MXO2 are 1:1 display. Meaning NTSC is output at 720x486, PAL is output at 720x576, HD 720p is output at 1280x720 and HD 1080 is output at 1920x1080.
The only time the above would different would be if you the user decided to intentiionaly scale the video using the scaling abilities of the MXO2.
cheers,
Joe |

Good morning Joseph,
Thank you for your reply.
"with any app that support the Quicktime Vout component" except for Quicktime it self it seems? Can one output from Quicktime Pro via MXO in mastering mode to obtain broadcast correct video display?
Best,

Unfortunately no you cannot output from QuickTime Pro since as you have noiticed, the QuickTime player itself does not support the Vout component so it will not work with the MXO nor the MXO2.
The only way to get it working would be in Presentation mode with the MXO.
