Dear sirs

I would like to know if is possible to ingest HDV trough HDMI input in MXO2, and what will be the codec that will be recorded on computer, I would like to use Prores 422 HQ but I don't think that Macbook pro 2.16 GHZ can handle it.

What will be the Codec used when Ingesting from HDMI for HDV?

Thanks

Hi Enrico,

You can either ingest your HDV footage through your MAC 1394 I/O or take an HDMI output from your camera and plug it into the HDMI input of the MXO2 and set the capture codec to HDV, in Final Cut Pro to do your capture. This will generate a (.mov) file in the HDV codec.

In other words, you could connect your camera via HDMI and capture to whatever codec your computer can handle. However, with the current generation of MacBook Pro's it is not likely that you will be able to capture to ProRes at 1920x1080 29.97 fps since you probably need a quad-core system to capture in that format.

Best regards,
B.C.
