|

I tried using the AME render queue for the first time the other day and found it took longer to render than from within a Matrox project. For instance I took a 1920x180i timeline and rendered it out to mpeg2 for dvd from within the Matrox project using Premiere Pro with the following settings: match source attributes highest quality, unchecked "export audio, and checked off "use maximum render qualtiy" and it took 1:56. I then used the same file and sent it to the queue instead and the render time was 12:29.
I just want to know if this is normal.
I am using CS 5.5.2 with Matrox mini with Max mtx, utils Version 6.1.0.99.
Motherboard: Asus P6T Deluxe V2
Processor: Intel Core i-7 920
Display Card: Nvidia Quadro 4000 with latest drivers
Memory: 12GB DDR3 2000
C Drive: 500GB 7200 RPM
V Drive: (2) 1000GB 7200 RPM
Thanks... |

Hi,
The Mpeg2 DVD export format is handled by Adobe's engine and not Matrox. It may be normal to get a render difference between Premiere and Media Encoder since queuing the file from Premiere to Media Encoder will require communication of frames between the two applications.
Have you tried testing with the same export settings in Media Encoder? GPU or Mercury acceleration? Make sure the Use Maximum Render Quality is not selected.
Also, is there rendering to be done in Premiere prior to exporting to AME?
Have you tried your render difference test without Matrox software?
Let us know your results. _________________ Regards,

| Thanks for the quick reply Sam. Well I tried it every which way, matrox project, standard adobe project, etc. The common denominator seems to be "use max render quality" as not checking that option exports in pretty much the same amount of time in the queue as it does from the timeline. The only other variable is that from an adobe project the sample clip I was using needed to be rendered which took about 1:45. I am curious however as to why "use max render quality" does not effect the time needed to export from the timeline which is pretty quick. Not that it was a big deal to begin with as this was pretty much an acedemic pursuit as opposed to being a problem. I just needed to satisfy my curiosity Sam. Thanks for the help. |

This would be an Adobe workflow inquiry. The Use Maximum Render Quality setting would definitely increase render time.

Here is another interesting post from Creative Cow: http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/920605
You can also post in the Adobe forum as well for additional information regarding Adobe workflow settings.
Hope this information is helpful. _________________ Regards,
