Now that AVID has announced the $999 upgrade/crossgrade to Symphony, will their be drivers soon for the MXO2 mini?

Thanks,

Forrest

Good question.
I second that.

Do the current drivers work with symphony?

Currently, our drivers are not designed or tested with Symphony.
If you wish, please feel free to post this as a feature request in our Feature Request forum: http://forum.matrox.com/mxo/viewforum.php?f=6

If they haven't been tested with Symphony there is no way to tell if they work or not, right?

I understand that there is a big gab between Media Composer and Symphony users but that might change due to the current promotion. As a Media Composer 5.5 user, I have the option to upgrade to MC6 or Symphony 6. I was assuming that if MC6 is compatible with the mini, Symphony 6 would be compatible too, since the underlying engine and code is the same. All the information I'm getting is that with the exception of better Color Correction tools and Universal Mastering in the Symphony, they are virtually the same software in version 6. Even Avid qualified configurations are the same for both editors. There is a link on the Avid Symphony 6 page that will take you to a list of compatible Open I/Os; when you click on Matrox it directs you to the Matrox/MC6 page.

I am very interested in knowing if the current drivers for MC6 work with Symphony 6. Of course, I don't expect Universal Mastering to work with the Matrox MXO2 mini, since this feature is only available with the Avid Nitris DX hardware.

Hello feliciano,

This is a very good observation. Although the Avid MC version (6.0) is supported as a standalone application with Matrox MXO2, we just don't know if there will be any potential conflicts with the other components of the Symphony 6 suite. Until officially tested, we cannot recommend it. However, I will verify internally if I can get some additional details on this very valid question.

Joe,

Just wondering if you were able to get any additional details.

Thanks.

Hi, yes, sorry for the delay.

Avid Media Composer 6 is supported if installed as part of the Symphony suit. Please see this FAQ from Avid: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/FAQ/en420595?popup=true
