Can we have your exact system specs? Mac Pro, MacBook Pro?
What is the Sound preferences set to for Input and Output?
We are not able to reproduce the timeout error. Can you detail the exact steps, shortcuts used etcc?
1- Start capture
2- Stop and save capture
3- Load clip by drag and drop from Bin to Source window?
etc...
Yes, you are correct. The HDMI output does not support 1080psf@23.98.
To confirm, if you can select the HDMI output via 1080p Video Output, you get the same interlaced look? _________________ Regards,

Specs
MacPro 2 x 3.2 Ghz Quad-Core (Mac 3.1) OS 10.7.3
8GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT
Drive is a 4 way esata stripe
Audio is SDI embedded in digitized as PCM 16 or 24 b 48Khz
Main channel selection out
Digitizing Video only most of the time anyway
Same setup works perfectly with Nitris DX only difference being the PCI I/F Card
When in 1080 HDMI out also looks like bad interlace |

We would need detailed steps to reproduce your timeout error.
Does the interlaced look occur on playback or scrub or both? _________________ Regards,

The Timeout error has not surfaced for a couple of days now.
The most probable cause is a delay in updating the msmMMOB.db
It gets updated after a restart and everything returns to normal
It also happened a couple of times after importing a lot of audio tracks
Speaking of audio, I mentioned it in the last message but it may not have been clear
In Matrox utilities:
A/V Input / Audio: SDI embedded audio
Audio Output / audio mapping is disabled HDMI channels = 8
In MC
usually PCM/48Khz/24bits
Interlace look always present, stop/playback/scrub |

Thanks for the detailed feedback.
Are you seeing an extra frame when performing in/out capture via RS422 control?
ie. the logged In point in Avid is 1:48:48:23 and the actual captured inpoint of the file is 1:48:48:22? We seem to be seeing this type of behavior in house.
Have you tried adjusting the deck's timecode offset, preroll or using the audio delay setting in Avid MC6? Does this affect the frame accuracy?
See this interesting Avid link for similar issue: http://community.avid.com/forums/p/42472/238538.aspx
The timeout error seems to be intermittent. If you get specific steps to reproduce the issue, please let us know. We will continue to investigate this on our end.
As for the footage @23.98, the playback image does not seem to be inverted but displaying an interlaced look which is normal for SDI/Component output via PsF.
Are you running FULL (green/green) video playback quality in Avid?
Are you using the same Panasonic client monitor to playback the 23.98 footage? The monitor specs indicate there is no HDMI input. Are you using a DVI to HDMI converter? If so, please try testing a true 1080p HDMI monitor with a direct HDMI input signal to playback the 23.98 files which should give you a more progressive look. _________________ Regards,

The video logged versus what is actually captured is one frame off. Duration is okay. Frame accuracy is achieved in other formats (59.94, 25) but not in 23.976
The link you mention is related to SD in older version of MC with a different BOB. Unfortunately it does not shed light on the present situation.
Material is digitized in DNxHD175x and the video playback quality is toggled to 10bits (Green+10 in the display)
HDMI is a consumer based interface and everything between VTR, NLE and Monitors is wired through HD-SDI. The only time HDMI is used is for monitoring a 5.1 mix. Just for fun we connected an HP LP2480 in HDMI with the same result.
At this point maybe it's time to pay us a visit, we are located in Montr?al and we can nail this a lot faster than by going back and forth on this forum, or you can contact me privately to evaluate other options.
Thank you |

Hello Sam
Anything happening with the 1080p/23.976psf issue?
I tried the newest driver ( 3.0.1.0004 ) just in case, and made things a lot worse. (while working in 1080i/59.94 which was usually okay)
The download description did mention that it was an FCP X specific release but it is certainly not moving in the Media Composer 6.x direction (remember something about unifying the drivers?)
Please a new release asap, I cannot have a client with me in the edit suite when I'm using the MX02, it's embarrassing. I don't mind working around some issues but I also need to get work done
Cheers

Yes, the 3.0.1 beta release is ONLY for FCP X and not for use with Avid MC6.
We have addressed the issue to our engineering department and working with Avid to determine if this issue can be rectified in future driver release.
Thank you for your understanding. _________________ Regards,
