|
|
| When I select HDMI as an input source in the capture options it says ok to the right but all I am getting is a blue screen. If I unplug the HDMI cord and plug it back in, I get video for a second and then it goes back to blue screen. Any suggestions? |

Can you confirm your MXO2 driver and Avid MC versions?
The Avid MC5 release using MXO2 Mini does not support captures. This version is an output monitoring release only.
However, the current Avid MC6 and MXO2 6.0 drivers support a full Input Output monitoring through MXO2 hardware. _________________ Regards,

This is the one I just recently installed:
"Installs Matrox Mtx.utils version 6.0 (build 73) for Windows. This release supports Avid Media Composer 6.0." |

Thanks for the update. I will move your post to the appropriate section for Avid MC6 since you posted in the Avid MC5 section.
Can you confirm your HDMI input signal and capture input format settings? _________________ Regards,

The input source is set to HDMI, it says 'ok' next to it.
Input Format: 1080PsF@29.97 fps
Capture Format: Matrox MPEG - 2 - I-frame HD
Input Aspect Radio: 16:9
Input type: Broadcast-quality source
Output format: 1080PsF@29.97 fps
I am also not getting any audio to come out |

Hi andy.erickson,
What is the HDMI source? Camera, device? Model?
Can you verify setting the Capture Input Format set to 1080p@29.97fps? Does this work?
To confirm, what is your Avid Project Format?
Can you try capturing via Matrox AV tools and see if this works?
Usually when you get a blue screen in Matrox capture window, this is due HDCP being enabled in the HDMI signal.
If possible, can you verify capturing through a different Input Source, ie. Component?
Please let us know if this helps. _________________ Regards,

The source is a cd/dvd player deck.
That capture format does not work. I get the same result as before.
1080p@29.97fps
I have been trying to use Matrox AV tools the whole time. When I try to use Matrox Max H.264 Capture I always get an error saying "This program requires a Matrox MX02 product with MAX technology. Make sure that your MX02 hardware is properly installed and connected. If the problem persists, try restarting your system".
When I use Composite, I get the video and it stays up, however I get no audio. |

You must make sure the source signal is matching your MXO2 Input format settings. Can you confirm what is the HDMI output format of your DVD player? You may be playing out SD only from the player. Specify the model of your DVD player.
You will not be able to capture using Matrox H.264 capture application without MAX technology.
The fact you are seeing an output using Composite suggests that your output from DVD may be in SD format. Please confirm this. If capturing from Composite, try setting your audio capture settings to Analog RCA and connect the RCA outputs of your DVD player to input RCA of your MXO2 Mini. _________________ Regards,

| I went back to using the composite since I can get video in color. (when I use component i get video in black and white) However there is no audio. I have the white and red audio cables coming out of the AV Out on the dvd/vcr player directly underneath the video out cable. I have that connected to the MXO2 Mini input audio ports. THen I have another set of audio cables running from the output on the Mini that splits into just one jack that i plugged into the mic input on the laptop. |

Close and reopen AVtools, create an SD Editing Format such as NTSC. Make sure the player outputs NTSC if that is the case.
Make sure the Video Capture Settings > Input Source is set to Composite and the Input Format is set to NTSC (or PAL depending on the DVD player).
Also, confirm your Audio Capture Settings > Input Source is set to analog RCA. _________________ Regards,

| I am still not getting any audio, is there an email address I can contact you at so I can send you images of my set-up and screen shots of my settings? I am really having a hard time understanding why I am not getting any audio. |

Yes, please send us your screen shots to mxosupport@matrox.com.
Have you tried another capturing source instead of DVD player? ie. camera
If you bypass the MXO2 and connect the DVD player's audio out to set of speakers, does the audio work? _________________ Regards,

| After tweaking some settings on my system I got the sound to come through. Now the only problem is that its not being recorded. Could this be because I routed the audio cables directly from the dvd player to my laptop? |

Yup. That will definitely do it.
Audio must definitely come in through the MXO2. (Make sure you select which audio connection it is that the audio is to come in through when you are capturing.)

Yes, as Andrew mentioned, you will need to connect the audio from source player to input of your MXO2 unit. _________________ Regards,
