I have an MX02LE - is it possible to upgrade it to a MAX version?

Thanks,

There is no way to add the MAX option inside an existing MXO2 box, but you CAN add the Matrox CompressHD card to your Mac or PC workstation to get the exact same benefits as if your MXO2 has MAX. This is not an option with laptops though.

Informative but a bit of a shame as I'm running it with a laptop... Thanks for the reply though!

Hello and thank you for your interest in Matrox products. Thank you Jeff for your prompt reply, unfortunately on a Laptop the only way to get our Matrox Max technology is to buy it at the point of purchase. You might weigh the benefits of getting a second unit, perhaps a MXO2 mini with Max, that retails for $849 at Safe Harbor, for your compression needs.

Thanks for your question and response! I wonder if it is still the case (as of 2011) that one cannot upgrade a Matrox MX02 LE to MAX if using a laptop?

Many thanks,
B

Hello B and thank you for your interest in Matrox products. The Matrox MXO2 LE and the Matrox MXO2 LE with Max have the same casing but have different hardware inside. They are 2 completely different chipsets and are different products. You can not upgrade any one of our MXO2 family of products to Max, you need to make that choice at the time of purchase.
