I have a 2x3ghz Quad core mac with 14gb ram and fitted with an AJA Kona 3 video card, ATI Radeon HD4870 gfx card.

I want to install the PCIe card for my new MX02LE- but what i need to know is if its possible to run my edit system with the AJA Kona3 whilst using the Matrox to up convert the sdi output from the Kona to an HD signal coming out of the HDMI slot.

Basically - I have a Sony Bravia i'd like to add to the monitoring options in my edit suite. The most cost effective would be to utilise the MX02 if at all possible.

Anyone aware of any compatibility problems of trying this?

thanks
Adam

Hi Adam,

Honestly I am not sure, but I have inquired for you. When an answer is given to me, I will let you know.

hmmm... whilst i can have the drivers for both AJA and Matrox loaded, i cannot get the desired result.

It would seem that for the Vetura Capture software to work, it needs to be the active, foremost application.
As soon as another application is the active one, the Vetura goes black. Which makes it impossible to run both video cards on the one mac simultaneously.

The way around this is simply to use the mx02 & capture software on the laptop to drive the LCD. Not a big hardship really.

Hi Adam,

Just to confirm, you found it works with the Aja software isn't on the machine?

Thanks for your update. I'm sure this would help others as well.

Hi lightningad,

Here is what I found:

If Kona is playing back, the MXO2 will not be able to be used at the same time.
