For the last several weeks, when I boot off my MacPro...the next morning I come in...the initial boot up my MXO2 isn't recognized. I simply restart and everything works FINE.

10.5.8 - Leopard

1.8 MXO2 driver.

Hi jbtwist,

Does this happen 100% of the time? Does the MXO get powered on? Is the light on when this happens?

Regards,

Peter

Yes,

It's been consistent since I noticed it started happening. I checked the red light and it is on...I never power it down.

Hi jbtwist,

Sorry for the delayed response. Can you try the 1.8.1 drivers located here:
http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/downloads/
Can you try manually powering the MXO 2 off and on again instead of the MacPro?

Regards

Peter

I'll try the new driver...by

"manually powering the MXO 2 off and on again instead of the MacPro? "

What do you mean by that?

Do you mean when the desktop is on and the hardware isn't recognized...power the matrox box down and back on and see if it comes up?

Yes that is what I meant, to avoid having to restart MacPro.

I tried rebooting the box when this happened (still on v1.8.0) It didn't work...still not recognized.

I'm installing v1.8.1 now and will let you know my feedback

OK...installed 1.8.1 and now box isn't recognized at all...not on restart or shutdown (tried shutting down both the PC and Matrox unit)

This is getting very frustrating...I'm now going to roll back to v1.8 to see if I can get my box to work again.

OK...update.

I uninstalled 1.8.1 and restarted. (I deleted preferences)

Reinstalled 1.8.1 and went into system pref's and the matrox hardware is recognized...

Restarted and the hardware isn't recognized.

I'm now going to try to roll back to 1.8

Now v1.8 is doing the same thing.

My computer won't recognize the Matrox hardware.

When I installed 1.8, my HD video monitor gave me a sync signal from the HD-SDI output. Under sys prefs the hardware is recognized...but when I shutdown and restart it comes up unrecognized.

Only thing that I can see that is unusual is there is a dialogue that comes up on shutdown that says "updating boot caches".

Any ideas?

Sorry...when things are going well there's no need to complain!

Turns out, issue was (likely) in the card in the MacPro.

The box was recognized intermittently...then not at all...removed the card and put it back in...came back up...shut down and restarted and it wasn't there...

My key was to look in System Prefs at the PCI cards...the card wasn't even listed...and it would randomly come up and then not other times.

Did an RMA replacement on the card and I put the new one in yesterday...have rebooted and shutdown completely without incident...it appears (so far) that it was the card.
