|
|
The specifications on MXO2 mini state that it will pass up to 8 audio channels through the HDMI connector. How is this useful if the HDMI connector is connected to a video or computer monitor? Are there devices that will extract the 8 channels and pass the HDMI video?
Thanks. |

Hello and thanks for your interest in Matrox products. With regards to your question; Yes, the MXO2 mini's HDMI supports up to 8 audio channels on input/output. Devices which support 5.1 or 7.1 can be used to monitor all the channels. For example' you can use your home theater sound system for 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound monitoring.

Does this mean that the MXO2 Mini will allow me to monitor 5.1 or 7.1 from Soundtrack Pro 2? Provided it's connected to a 5.1 receiver of course... |

Wait...does this mean you can use the MXO2 Mini as an audio output device for anything? Or is that for Mac only?
I was looking at a Decklink Studio, which supposedly acts as an ASIO device, but I'm told that you can't use it to replace a soundcard for audio-only software. Can I get surround out from Acid Pro on a PC through the Mini? |

Thank you...I wouldn't be replacing an audio interface with the MXO2 Mini, but I might be able to get away with a 2-in/2-out if I could output Acid and Sound Forge surround through the HDMI. |

Hello, further to our discussion on this topic; please note that the MXO2 Mini would only provide you with stereo output for Acid and Sound Forge applications.
Thanks,
