Since the MXO 2 mini captures in mpeg 2, can it be set to capture on the fly so that the file could be loaded directly into a DVD authoring app for blu ray authoring without having to re compress the files? I'd like to use DVDit pro HD. What do you think?

Hi Chris, The MXO2 Mini (with the MAX option) can not capture and encode to H.264 simultaneously. You need to capture your video first, and then use the built-in MAX technology for encoding. Blu-ray H.264 files created can be authored in Adobe Encore CS4 and Roxio Toast 10 without re-encoding. DVDit Pro HD has not been tested with the MXO2 Mini and therefore cannot comment on its compatibility at this point in time.

Hi,

I was wondering if the Blu-ray H.264 files can be used directly in DVD Studio Pro?

Thanks

Hello KurtEX1,

The Max technology available on the MXO2 Mini allows the creation of Blu-ray H.264 files that can be authored in Adobe Encore CS4 and Roxio Toast 10 then burned without re-encoding.

Tests for workflow compatibility with H.264 Matrox Max encoded files with DVD Studio Pro are still in progress. More information on compatibility will be available soon.

Well we purchased the MXO2 with the MAX technology and I was wondering now (about a month later) how the testing of H.264 blu-ray files is going with DVD Studio Pro?

Thanks

Hello and thanks for your continued support of Matrox products. With regards to your follow up enquiry, please note that it has been concluded that the DVD Studio is not a supported application with the MXO2 Mini since it does not have a V-out component support.

Thanks,
B.C.

We have the MXO2 MAX not the Mini. Does this go for the MAX tech on the MXO2 as well?

Wouldn't think so.

Thanks

Unfortunately it does. This applies for both the MXO2 Mini and the MXO2 (with or without the MAX option)...since the DVD Studio application does not have V-out component support.

Thanks,
B.C.

Maybe I'm missing something. As I understood it, you export a finished sequence from your Edit suite, in this case Final Cut Pro 6, to Compressor and render Blu-ray H.264 files through the activated MXO2 MAX settings at better than real time. No need for a V-out here? Then import the H.264 files to Toast 10 or Encore for authoring and then burning to Blu-ray discs with out the need to re-encode.

My original question was "Are these Blu-ray H.264 streams compatible for authoring and output within DVD Studio Pro."

Hope this clarifies.

Hi Kurt, just to clarify; DVD Studio Pro which comes with Final Cut Studio 2 is not a supported application since it does not create Blu-Ray discs; its only for HD DVD creation. However, we are, currently testing Apples' latest FCS3, which was announced earlier this week, for compatibility - these tests would include DVD Studio Pro, so please stay tuned for further updates on this topic coming soon.

Best regards,

Thanks,
B.C.

Thanks B.C.

Yes, looks like there is some promise in the new Final Cut Pro 3 from what I've read.

Here's hoping.

Just no new DVD Studio Pro yet.
