Hello forum members! I realise that these products are old and no longer supported by the company but I am really hoping someone can help with this. I have a MiniMax (and a LE Max - more on that later) that I am having serious audio problems with (both units). I am running them with a Dell laptop using Windows 7 PRO and the Express card interface. I am ONLY running Matrox software and have installed the latest version (8 something??) that I could find. Here is my problem:
I am trying to digitise a large number (> 100) of VHS tapes that are 5 or 6 hours long each. I am using the MAX setting to compress them on the fly so I have a finished MP4 when I am done. The problem is, once capture is finished, sometimes the video is fine. But sometimes, the audio is nothing but a loud clicking or popping like impulse noise. Other times, there is NO AUDIO at all. The video is always fine and playable. My only choice then is to shut everything off and restart the video capture - another 5 or 6 hours! I never know when I start if the capture will turn out OK or not. It always finishes successfully and I only discover the problem on playback.
My first thought was the MinMax was somehow bad so I bought the LEMAX but it does THE EXACT SAME THING. Sometimes fine, sometimes clicks and sometimes no audio at all. It is driving me bonkers and I am about to throw the whole setup in the trash. PLEASE someone give me something to try to troubleshoot this! In 3 weeks I have gotten through maybe 6 tapes. At this rate I'll be a year doing this project!
Any help is appreciated! THANK YOU!!! |
