|
|
Hello,
I'm finally replacing my Dell Precision M6500 with a Precision 7510, with Thunderbolt 3. It uses a USB-C connector.
I see Matrox makes a Thunderbolt adapter for the MXO2. But I'm not having any luck finding any Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 1/2 adapters out? I see StarTech has one launching May or something, but do I not have any options currently?
Also, will I need to wait for a Windows driver for the Matrox adapter or is that just a bus converter that Windows already has drivers for?
Thanks! |

We do not support thunderbolt adaptors on MXO2 Windows platform. This is currently only available with MAC MXO2 software.
To interface with MXO2 hardware, we support expresscard adaptor, thunderbolt adaptor (MAC only), and PCIe adaptor card. _________________ Regards,

Is this something being worked on or should I sell my MXO2 and move to another product that does support Thunderbolt on Windows?
Are you saying it will not work? Have you tried this yet? |

Unfortunately, there are no official Matrox drivers to support Thunderbolt on Windows. Currently, thunderbolt drivers are only supported via MAC platform. _________________ Regards,

Not to be rude, but that doesn't answer my questions.
1. Is Thunderbolt support on Windows being worked on?
2. Have you guys tried using the Thunderbolt adapter on a PC motherboard? To see if the Thunderbolt drivers are part of Windows and/or standard Intel chipset drivers? The MXO2 drivers should be the same as the released package I would imagine.
3. Perhaps I should sell the MXO2 since I won't be able to use it?
4. Have you guys tried a Thunderbolt -> ExpressCard adapter such as the one from Sonnet? |

There are no plans to support thunderbolt drivers on Windows. We have not tested or certified thunderbolt > expresscard adaptor to work with MXO2. _________________ Regards,
