Premiere or MC?

Hi there!

We are about to set up a new editing system and we are planning to buy a Matrox MX02 Rack MAX as an I/O-Box.

We now think about the editing software, that we we will buy, and the compatibility of the MX02 with Adobe Premiere or AVID.

As we have no other preferences, would you say the MX02 works better with Premiere or Media Composer?

Hi Buchs,

Do you plan to use the MXO2 on a Windows or MAC platform? Do you also plan to use the MAX option for H.264 encoding, including bluray encodes?

What is your workflow? Will you be using the MXO2 for both capture and output monitoring?

Hi Joe,

thanks for the quick response!

We want to use the Matrox on a Windows platform and it will be used as a capture device in first place. And yes, we are planning to use the h.264 encoder.

Furthermore, we already have a Matrox MX02 LE with Max, which has been connected to a MAC computer. Unfortunately this MAC just
broke down, so we were thinking, if we could use this Matrox MX02 LE device with a new computer with windows platform. We bought this Matrox device a couple of years ago, maybe 2009/10, with a PCI-Express-Card, that we installed in the MAC.

So my question is, would it be possible to use this PCI-Express-Card from the MAC computer also in the PC, or do we have to buy a special card for PC?

You're welcome Buchs,

You can use your existing PCI card in a PC system.

To capture directly to H.264 format, install the latest 8.0 driver and use the included Matrox H.264 Capture application. (see user guide for usage instructions)
