Hello,
Now that Avid has released its latest major up-grade (Jan 2016), can you tell us the plans for supporting MXO2 and mini with Media Composer/Symphony 8.5 on Mavericks 10.9.5 and Yosemite, and will there be support for MC 8.5 on El Captain in the near future?

We are currently conducting sanity tests with Avid MC8.5 and MXO2 drivers under Yosemite OSX using latest MXO2 4.6 software drivers.
There are no plans to support El Capitan OSX with MXO2 drivers, however, we have had users running with MXO2 4.6 release drivers under El Capitan and it seems to work well. _________________ Regards,

That sounds as though Mavericks 9.5 will be excluded from this support...?
And is that officially the end of the line for MXO2/mini after Yosemite? i.e.: start thinking about a new piece of hardware...

The last official release for Mavericks was MXO2 4.2 drivers with support for Avid 7.x.
The newer 4.5 and 4.6 drivers provide support for Yosemite OSX and Avid MC 8.x.
We will not provide support for El Capitan at the moment, however, we do have users working with El Capitan under 4.6 drivers and it seems to be working well. _________________ Regards,

Hi Sam,
Thanks for replying. Although the word "yet" opens up a whole scenario, "will they, won't they?". I sincerely hope the Matrox managers will see that continued support for current operating systems is vital to many loyal users of their products.
I would ask Matrox to publish a definite statement so users can make plans for the future, rather than be kept guessing. I'm seriously having to consider making a switch of products in the near future if they drop support.
Having said that, I've just seen the 16th Feb sticky re MC 8.5 qualified with Matrox Utilities 4.6.0.0006 (Mac), so ok for Yosemite 10.10.4, I imagine.
My questions are:
Does it now stretch to Yosemite 10.10.5?
Does it include the Symphony options for MC 8.5? (as I notice sometimes they were out of kilter, i.e.: previously, MC8.4 was qualified but only Symphony v8.3). Or was just a typo in the release notes?
Will there be support for point/bug-fix releases of MC 8.5.1, 2, etc for the time being on Yosemite?

Hi Andrew,
We did sanity tests with Avid Media Composer 8.5 on Yosemite 10.10.5 OSX. Avid Symphony has not been tested.

We have not tested with El Capitan using Avid MC8.5 under 4.6 drivers.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the 4.6 drivers? _________________ Regards,
