|
|
Hi, I rendered AVI's using Matrox MPEG 2 HD CODEC on my Windows machine, but due to issues with that computer, I had to switch to my Mac Book Pro, all the video imported fine into CC 2015, but none of the files I rendered using your CODEC...now I realize that the Matrox Codecs are not on the Mac, is there a way to just load in Codecs but install all the Matrox software? If there is, would this solve the problem? Thanks so much. |

There are no Matrox AVI codecs available on the MAC platform, this is only used on Windows. The Matrox VFW software codecs provides support only for Windows.
The MPEG-2 I-frame Codec (MOV) is available on the MAC side however, the format extension will not be compatible with the Matrox Mpeg2 Iframe AVI codec.
http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/downloads/download/latest/?osID=22&productID=103&editingApplicationID=44
Note: This codec can be used for playback (decompression) only. To compress a file using the Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame codec, you must use the Matrox MPEG-2 I-frame codec that is installed with the MXO2/Mojito MAX software (v2.1 or later) or CompressHD software (v3.1 or later).
You can either convert/export the AVI files to MOV ie Apple ProRes to be able to play it back on the MAC or recapture source files to MOV. _________________ Regards,

Thank you so much for that detailed reply. So I would have to use a 3rd party program to convert? Can you recommend one if so? Guess I should've researched this butvibhad no choice in switching platforms. Jeff |

The 3rd-party program may not recognize the Matrox AVI. You may need to recapture the source files or find a Windows system, install the Matrox VFW codecs (no need for Matrox hardware installed) to re-export the footage to MOV or another compatible non-Matrox codec. _________________ Regards,

Thank you again. The Windows machine still works, so I can boot it up and convert the files on the Windows machine, hopefully using media encoder. Appreciate it. The MXO2 is still a part of my Windows system and works great...it's the computer that has issues. |

Ok, great to hear. AME with MXO2 should work fine to re-export the footage. _________________ Regards,

One more question...is there any advantage to installing the Matrox Codecs into the Mac? I've always liked your Codecs...but editing on a mac is a new world to me. where do you find just the codecs to download? Thanks, Jeff |

That's all I would need...I'm just so used to your Codecs, is there an Alpha one as well for exporting from After Effects to use in Premiere? thanks for replying so quickly, really appreciate it. |

If you are re-exporting the AVI files to another codec such as QT MOV, you do not need the Mpeg2 Iframe codec for the MAC. _________________ Regards,

Just saw this...so I do have to install the mxo2 software for it to do what I'm asking about. I have the latest version of MAC OS, El Capitan...will it work?

There is no Mpeg2 Iframe + Alpha with the MOV codec on MAC. The Mpeg2 Iframe codec on MAC is only for playback not encoding.
To encode, yes you will need the Matrox Utilties. _________________ Regards,
