Do I have to have the MXO2 connected and will it work with El Capitan?

If you are encoding using the Mpeg2 Iframe MOV codec, you will need the Matrox Utilities and therefore, need the MXO2 hardware connected. Unfortunately, we do not have drivers which support El Capitan. However, some users have reported it working with latest 4.6 drivers.

OK, just realized that would open a can of worms...connection the MXO2 to the Mac Book Pro, the version I had connected to my Windows Laptop using an express card I believe...how would I connect to a MBP late 2013. thanks again...

I believe you would need a thunderbolt adaptor since the MAC model you have has 2 thunderbolt ports, and no express card slot. https://support.apple.com/kb/SP691?locale=en_US

You should use the Windows system for encoding to a non-Matrox MOV codec (ex. DVCPROHD) so the files can be interchanged between Windows and MAC platforms.

That's brilliant...thank you. As soon as I see you have updated drivers, I'll install the MXO2...until then I'll do what you suggested, I appreciate all your time and info. Jeff
