Here's a questions about working with Grass Valley's Edius Pro, which
officially supports Matrox LE.

I am working with an PC based Edius Pro 7.5 on Matrox MXO2 LE System
and I have problems with getting Matrox set up on Edius as main video
in/out device. In Edius Software-Setup the Matrox MXO2 LE is shown for
In and Out Options, but when I select Matrox, then Edius chrashes immediately.

Does anyone know about the compatibility between Edius Pro 7.5 and the
latest drivers for Matrox MXO2 LE ?
Does Edius only 7.3.1 work with the latest Matrox drivers?

In couldn't find other reasons for the Edius-Crash.

Many thanks in advance
CN

Can you confirm which Matrox software version you are using?

After speaking with our product manager, Edius will not work with latest Mtx.utils 8.0 since it has not been compiled by GrassValley. This would have to be done on their end.

You can either work with 7.7.2 on Edius or contact GrassValley for further information regarding 8.0 driver compliation to work with Edius.

The 7.7.2 drivers can be used if you do not need to update 8.0, which provides support for Windows 8.1 64-bit and Adobe CC 2015.
Here is our Supported Applications list for 8.0: http://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/support/windows/mxo2/doc/en_Matrox_MXO2_Supported_OS_and_Applications_8_0.pdf

Thank you for your support!
Yes, the problem caused by the wrong driver. The previous version 7.7.2 is now installed in our Windows 7 (64Bit) system and works fine with Matrox MXO2 LE, by the first view. We also decide to change Edius to Version 7.3.1 for sure.
Only one problem is left at the moment, it refers to the Matrox VFW Software Codecs 10. By trying to install the codecs, we got the message that this is incompatible with the Matrox mtxutils, and we shall uninstall the Matrox drivers first and reinstall after finishing with the VFW Codec Installation. Sounds a bit crazy. Why do we have to uninstall mtxutils before installing the codec-pack? Thanx in advance for further information.

With the Mtx.utils software, you automatically install the VFW codecs as well, therefore, there is no need to install VFW with Mtx.utils software.

The VFW codecs are for stand-alone Windows systems with no Matrox hardware/software installed.

Okay, I understand. The reason why we were trying to install the codec pack is, we still have problems to import clips to Edius Pro 7, which were captured by Matrox AV Tools Software. Of course it is possible to capture directly by Edius through Matrox, but we like the Matrox AV Tools App, and want to decide later, on which Editing Software we want to import the clips captured by AV Tools (AVI, Matrox uncompressed SD, M101).

Thanks for any further support information.
Best regards and greetings from Germany

Which Matrox codecs are giving problems when importing to Edius?

Do you have the same capture codecs available in Edius? If so, have you tried capturing to the same codec in Edius and importing it?

Have you tried uninstalling Mtx.utils software and installing VFW codecs for importing into Edius? Does this work?

Have you tried contacting Edius for this issue as well?

Hi there, and thanks for the last answer.

We mainly want to use the 10 Bit uncompressed Codec for caturing PAL video.
There is no need for us to use other codecs at present.

In Edius we also tried to capture in 10 Bit uncrompressed and of course, Edius is able to reimport its own files (C201). The captured Matrox files
(M101) causing error warnings (not able to import) in Edius.
After opening the Matrox files with "Virtual Dub" software, and finally exporting with the same 10 Bit uncomp. preferences to AVI files, Edius can open these files. But this is not the way we want to go, and it takes too much extra time.
So maybe something is written into the Matrox files, to which Edius is unable to read. I don't know.

To uninstall Mtx.utils, install the VFW codec pack and reinstall Mtx.utils,
I am sorry, but this cannot be sure? You told me the codecs are delivered
with Mtx.utils? I am working on a network computer and have no administrator rights, so it is complicated to get service all the time from the IT Team. If the Matrox files won't work in Edius, I don't want to use AV-Tools any longer and capture with Edius. Too bad, because the AV-Tools software has a nice GUI and functions.
Maybe Edius 7.5 can import the Matrox files, but we don't want to update right now.
Yes, I will contact to Edius support, too.

However it would be nice if there is any other solution to find to fix these told problems with the Matrox files and Edius. Thanks !

We have reproduced the importing of 10-bit PAL files in Edius 7.5 as well.

The Matrox Mpeg2 -Iframe SD files are able to import into Edius. Do these work for you?

Have you tried contacting Edius?

Hi, thanks for answering!

Just for better understanding: It will be able to import Matrox AVI 10-Bit uncompressed PAL in Edius 7.5 ?? If it is doing so, we will try to update Edius to 7.5 too.
Is Matrox MXO2 LE fully compatible with Edius 7.5 ?

The Matrox MPEG2 Iframe SD codec is not part of our focus. I am ordered to capture in 10-Bit uncompressed.

Is there any comparison chart, showing the full list of compatibility between different Matrox Codecs an the major Editing Software (Final Cut, Adobe, Avid, Grass Valley) ?

Which professional stand alone transcoding software can you suggest for
lossless transfer Matrox Codecs to other formats? Will Mainconcept, oder Episode work fine with Matrox Codecs?

Thanks a lot in advance!

We have reproduced your issue where 10-bit Uncompressed files fail to import into Edius 7.5 as well.

We have not tested Episode on the Windows platform. Therefore, we cannot confirm if this will work.

Have you contacted Edius?
