Avid sees double, he sees 2 MXO2
@ launch : "There are multiple pieces of hardware available. Please pick one" is the message
then he offers to choose between two identical Marox MXO2 LE references |

Also, after the above procedure, run Preference Manager to clear

(trashing Avid pref didn' do any good) |

Yes you are the first to report this behavior. There is no other possible remedy than the procedure listed previously. It should not take more than 5 to 10 minutes to go through the folders and delete any lingering files manually. _________________ Regards,

I'm experiencing the same issue "there are multiple pieces of hardware available. Please pick one." and two choices are the same Matrox device. Following the procedure you laid out is not correcting the issue.
OS: 10.8.5
Avid MC: 7.0.4
MXO2 mini: Software 4.2.0006
The only elements that might be causing this issue in my mind would be that I have 2 internal drives one with 10.6.8 that contains it's own set of Matrox drivers to run FCP 7 and Avid MC 5.5 which somehow might be confusing the system.
Also, I have blackmagic drivers installed for an AJA T-tap and although the device is not connected, I've noticed some issues with competing drivers.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to resolve this.

Fraunpetri,
Where do you see this message? Is it upon starting up Avid MC?
I just tested on a dual boot MBP with 4.2.0.0006 on 10.9.4 with Avid 8.1.0 on one partition and 2.6.1.0001 on 10.7.5on another partition. I'm not seeing this behavior so far. _________________ Regards,

Hey Joe,
I see the warning when Avid is loading up during "Initializing Hardware" I've posted the screenshot.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/63530130/Two%20Matrox%20Devices%20Listed.png
My dual drive setup is
OS: 10.8.5
Avid MC: 7.0.4
MXO2 mini: Driver 4.2.0006
OS: 10.6.8
Avid MC: 5.5.3
MXO2 mini: Driver 2.2.3.0043
It does not occur when I load up MC 5.5 on the 10.6.8 drive.

Thanks. Screnshots are always helpful.
I still can't reproduce the issue here but I can suggest to go through the manual cleanup procedure on BOTH partitions. Then re-install the MXO2 driver for the 10.8.5 partition and verify if you get the same message. Here is an updated procedure.
1. In MAC_BOOT_ HD/System/Library/Extensions, delete all files that begin with: com.matrox
2. Delete the following files:
Library/PreferencePanes/com.matrox.vpg.MXO2.prefPane
Library/LaunchAgents/com.matrox.vpg.Agent.plist
Library/QuickTime/com.matrox.vpg.Clock.component
Library/QuickTime/com.matrox.vpg.VideoOutput.component
Library/QuickTime/com.matrox.vpg.VideoDigitizer.component
Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support/Plugins/Matrox Enabler.txt
Library/Receipts/Matrox***.pkg (where *** is the MXO2 model; eg: Rack, Mini)
Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.matrox.vpg.Matrox MXO2.plist
Users/username/Library/Applications Support/Compressor/Matrox MAX H.264 Settings (delete folder)
3. Open Mac->Applications and delete the 'Matrox MXO2 Utilities' folder (if present)
4. Load the MAC System Preferences window and delete the 'Matrox MXO2' icon (if still visible)
5. Go to your MAC Network Preferences and delete any Matrox network items
6. In Finder, press Shift+Cmd+G then type: /usr/libexec
Delete: com.matrox.vpg.Agent
7. In Finder, press Shift+Cmd+G then type: /tmp
Delete: Firmware Updater.app
8. Empty Trash.
9. Reboot system. Repair MAC Disk Permissions. Then re-install your MXO2 driver. _________________ Regards,
Joe

Hey Joe,
Still the same problem after uninstalling on both drives and doing all the steps you recommend. The device seems to work fine so I'll just have to live with it. Thanks for you help.
