|
|
I recently purchased a OWC Mercury Helios 2 thunderbolt expansion chassis to used with my new MacPro6,1. OS X 10.9.2 16GB memory.
The MXO2 card and software that worked just great in my old MacPro is not working in the new setup. On startup it is possible to open the MX utilities from system preferences to confirm the card is connected.
However, output to an HDMI monitor from After Effects CS6 is problematic, the issue being that the output is offset and then stops updating.
Opening Matrox Utilities from system preferences after closing After Effects results in a system hang.
Obviously there are lots possible variables. Can anyone suggest a way to begin troubleshooting? |

First thing would be to disconnect the OWC Mercury Helios 2 and try with a direct connection to the ThunderBolt port on your new Mac. It is possible that something within the ThunderBolt expansion chassis is getting in the way.

Hello prwiley,
Please try what Andrew suggested, going direct to the Mac.
Which Matrox driver have you installed?
Is your goal to use the CS6 suite?
Regards

I have communicated with OWC tech support and their answer is that the Matrox card is not supported and likely won't work.
I am going to punt and try Matrox's thunderbolt adapter. |

Hello prwiley,
Please try a direct connection with our thunderbolt adapter.
Follow these steps:
- connect the thunderbolt adapter to the Mac
- search for Mac updates, if any install, reboot
- search for any new Mac updates, install if any
- power down, add the MXO2 to the thunderbolt adapter, power up and install the driver
- reboot when prompted
Regards
