In my System Preferences [running OS 10.6.8] the Matrox Preference Pane (v 2.5.0.0034) says "Matrox Max compression device is present", but there's no tab for Max, and as far as I can tell no way to activate it. No h.264 shows up in the Matrox settings in FCP either. What am I missing?
Thanks, James |

Hi James,
It's normal not to see a MAX tab in the Matrox Utilities application. This tab was removed in more recent drivers. As long as you see the message that the 'Matrox MAX Compression device is present', your installation is fine.
To encode, use Apple Compressor 3.5.3. You should see a Matrox MAX H.264 folder (with all the Matrox H.264 presets) under the custom folder. _________________ Regards,

What I'd like to do is go straight from some old DV tapes to h264. Possible? I assumed it was, but h264 doesn't show up as a capture option in the FCP Matrox settings. |

This is not a supported feature on MAC platforms. It is supported on PC platforms only if using the Matrox MAX H.264 Capture software.
If this feature would be useful for you, then a good idea is to post a feature request in the product feature enhancements forum. _________________ Regards,
