Today I tried to record from a S-VHS recorder and got a decent image quality ? but the recordings stopped after 1-3 secs with no reason.

If the VHS tape playback video is of a poor quality - tracking issues, glitches - that unstable analog signal might cause capture to abort. I work on the PC, so not sure how Mac interface looks, but in Matrox capture settings, I have options for "Broadcast" and "Consumer" - try changing to Consumer and it will be more forgiving.
Also, some higher end decks like my JVC S-VHS deck have a TBC (Time Base Corrector) built-in, so enable that if you have it to help stabilize the signal for capture.
Thanks

Thanks Jeff for your input. The equivalent MAC MXO2 setting for unstable signals such as with older analog devices or VHS, is the Capture unstable video signals found in Matrox Preferences > A/V Input pane.
Please try this setting enabled/checked when performing your captures. _________________ Regards,
