|
|
Hi there,
I've had a Matrox MXO2 Mini running with FCP7 for many years and it's worked great. I've been using Premiere Pro CC 2014 for some time now, and just recently upgraded the matrox drivers to 4.2 in an attempt to get the matrox to work with Premiere on my Mac Pro with 12 gigs of ram running OX 10.8.5.
Premiere Pro now sees the matrox and displays the video, but the video runs very slowly while the audio plays fine. They are totally out of sync.
I've updated the firmware on the Matrox Mini as well. My Mac is a 2x2.8 GHZ Quad Core.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Hi Bob,
What is the full version of Adobe Premiere?
Which Premiere sequence are you selecting for your project?
What are the properties of your video files? (resolution, frame rate, codec)
Is the Premiere playback quality set to 'Full'?
If you enable the dropped frames indicator, does the LED remain green or do you drop frames during playback? _________________ Regards,

Hi Joe,
Thanks for the quick response.
I'm running Premiere Pro 1014.2. The sequence was AVCHD 1080p 5994. Playback set to full. Frames are being dropped during playback.
After further investigation, I think if I playback a 720 sequence, then everything stays in sync. My external monitor is an older one, only capable of 720. The 1080 image shows up just fine though, but plays slower. Could that be the problem? I just need a 1920x1080 external monitor?
Also, I've checked my FCP7 software and it now no longer shows the matrox output options. Can I no longer use FPC and the matrox together after upgrading the drivers?
Thanks so much!

Try to playback your 1920x1080 sequence after having changed the Video Output setting (in the Matrox preferences application) from 'follow application' to '720p'. This will allow the MXO2 to downscale the video from 1920x1080 to 1280x720; which should work properly with your monitor.
FCP7 requires a different (quicktime-based) driver. So I would recommended to setup multiple boot partitions on your hard drive. To do so, please refer to this guideline:
1. Create an extra boot partition on your hard drive.
Instructional video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bea0iNuP5yE
2. Install MAC OSX 10.8.5 on the new partition.
3. Setup your partitions as follows:
- Boot 1 (existing partition): 10.8.5 / FCP 7.0.3 / Matrox 2.6.1.0001
- Boot 2 (new partition): 10.8.5 / Adobe CC / Matrox 4.2.0.0006
4. To choose which partition to boot from, hold the 'Alt/Option' key on your MAC when you hear the MAC boot-up sound at startup.
Note: These 2 Matrox software versions share the same firmware. Therefore, there will be no need to update the firmware when switching between partitions. _________________ Regards,

Thanks Joe. I don't seem to have a Matrox Preference application, though that sounds familiar like I might have once had it... Right now, after uninstalling the older version and updating to the 4.2 version, I have the Firmware Update, the Utilities Uninstaller, and the Matrox Vetura Capture applications...
Thoughts?

The Matrox Preferences (Utilities) application is found under your MAC System Preferences (green icon at the bottom). _________________ Regards,

Of course. I knew that... Thanks.
Anyway, I did that, but the 1920 sequence still plays back very slowly, while the audio plays fine... This doesn't seem to be happening in the 720 sequence though.... Any other thoughts? |

Does it behave the same way with different codec footage or only with the AVCHD footage?
One thing you can try is to do a capture using the MXO2 and then import the clip into a new sequence. _________________ Regards,

Also, do you currently have or did you already install a different version of Adobe CS in this installation of MAC OSX? _________________ Regards,

If using 1080p60, I don't believe that is supported by Matrox
