|
|
Been having trouble with my MXO2 mini lately
Flashing blue light appearing from left front side, flashing about 1 time a second.
Matrox Utility does not see hardware.
In the past if I restarted the computer it would sometimes work.
Seems to be dead right now.
Could it be the power supply?
PCIe card?
or the Matrox Box itself?
Using it on 2009 MacPro 4,1
Running Lion and Mavericks
All proper software is installed |

The flashing blue light (flash per second) inside the MXO2 box indicates faulty power supply and replacement is required.

Question regarding the power supply...
Is it a bad idea to disconnect power to the Matrox MXO2 mini power supply when shutting down for the day?
This has been my practice, lately it seemed like the power supply needed to be on for a considerable time before it began applying current to the Matrox box.
Is it better to leave the power supply hooked up to an active ac line rather then cutting the current completely?
Thanks for your help and insight as always

While the MXO2 is connected to your Mac system, the MXO2 will turn on or off automatically when you start up or shut down your Mac system so no particular reason for disconnecting the power supply form the outlet. _________________ Best regards,

Yes, I understand that, thank you.
I was wondering if cutting power to the power supply is a good or bad thing to do?
I have done this to my hard drives as well, thinking that rather than letting the power supply be on and getting hot for no reason, having them disconnected from the power and then turned on when actually needed might extend their life? |

I cannot confirm if unplugging the power supply will extend the lifespan of it but we recommend keeping it connected all the time. As long your system is turned off the MXO2 power supply will idle and stay cold.
I hope this helps. _________________ Best regards,
