I just finished installing my card and then installing the MX02 Mini Version 3.0 driver for my mac yet when I click in the control panel it's saying video hardware not found. The matrox box is lit up and the b side of the cable is plugged into the matrox box and the a side is plugged into my mac tower.

Any idea what I could be doing wrong? When I run a system report I don't see the card either

Mac 10.7.4
2.93 quad core intel xeon
ATI Radeon HD 5870
12 gigs of ram.
Media Composer 6.0.1
Connected from Matrox box to Dell HD Monitor 1920X1080 via HDMI cable (for video output from MC.) My working monitor is a Dell US410 / 1920 x 1200 resolution

Could be that one of the host cable connectors is around the wrong way. Very easy to do. On my system (PCIe connector) the 'A' side is up at the computer and the 'B' side is up at the MXO2 hardware box.

Hope this helps you out.

Appreciate the help, but that's not it. These cables will only connect one side up. The pins don't line up the other way. I'm going to try and use an alternate slot for the card on my tower. I have a great graphics card already in the tower and now I'm wondering if their is a compatibility issue or something.

Ok, I moved the card to another slot and it asked me to update the firmware. I did, and now I can access the matrox mini in the control panel. However, I am getting a warning on my new 2nd monitor that says "The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display." I am using a Dell st2420l and am connected via HDMI. This monitor displays full 1920 X 1080.

When I go to the display panel in my mac system preferences it is not even showing the dell as a monitor on my computer so I can't adjust the input timing to 1920 X 1080 at 60hz. I have absolutely no idea what is going on right now and could really use some help.

Hi cforcevid,

Assuming that your connectors are inserted the correct way, do the A and B sides line up the way that I previously described?

Hi,

Can you confirm the file size of the downloaded MXO2 Mini driver?
Have you tried redownloading and reinstalling the MXO2 Mini driver?

Have you tried starting Avid MC6 and creating a project to verify the HDMI output?
If so, what project format/frame rate are you working with?

For more information on PCIe connection with MXO2 Mini, see page 46 of the User Guide: http://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/support/mxo2/doc/en_Matrox_MXO2_Installation_and_User_Guide_2_5.pdf

Please let us know your results.

@ Sam,

Driver was 8.4 megs.

I did try opening Avid MC6. My problem is that the monitor itself doesn't seem to be recognized by the card. I'm not sure if this is a Dell issue or a Matrox issue. I've searched for this warning online and some other people have had some issues in the past. Here is exactly what the warning says.

"The current input timing is not supported by the monitor display. Please change your input timing to 1920 X 1080@60Hz or any other monitor listed timing as per the monitor specifications"

I'm not sure if the Matrox card won't play nice with this monitor on a mac. I definitely have it set up as shown on page 46 of the User Guide. I also see the matrox controls in my control panel. However, when I go to "displays" in the control panel I only see my other Dell monitor (U2410) that I use as my main monitor.

Can you confirm I downloaded the correct driver. I'm confident I did, but there's always a chance I screwed up.

Hi,

The driver download size for MXO2 Mini should be 8.04 MB, therefore, your driver should be fine if you had made a typo writing 8.4MB in your previous reply.

To confirm, HDMI out from MXO2 Mini is connected to the Dell st2420l HDMI input?

What is the resolution of your project within Avid? Have you tried various projects and see if you get a working HDMI otuput?

What is your Video Output Format in MXO2 System Preferences?

Please let us know your results.

No, the DL file size was 8.4 (see linked image)

The HDMI out is connected to the Dell ST2420L which is my output monitor.

My resolution in the Avid is 1920 X 1080 at 24P. I haven't tried other resolutions because if I can't get this resolution to work, I may as well not have made the purchase.

I am providing a link to the Output window from the Mini. It doesn't' give me a drop down option for HDMI though.

Thank you for all of your help. I'm really hoping we can figure this out.

Hi,

The Matrox download page mentions 8.04 MB but once downloaded the file is in fact 8.4 MB. The driver seems to be installed correctly since you are seeing the MXO2 Preference pane and LED on the Mini is solid.

After the drivers were installed and firmware was upgraded, did you make sure to power cycle the Mini? ie. shutdown the system after installation of drivers, disconnect the MXO2 Mini power, wait several seconds and reconnect the power, restart the system.

Under Video Output pane, can you try changing the Set main channel format to to 1080i/PsF? See if this works. It may be that your HDMI monitor does not support the 24p signal.

If that still does not work, try changing the Set HDMI output to the YUV setting.

Please let us know your results.

I did power cycle. I tried your settings but I'm still not getting an image to come through. Have you had any issues with Dell monitors in the past? In particular that warning note I had quoted above....

Hi Andrew,

We have not had specific reported issue with Dell monitors. Can you try with a different HDMI monitor or HDMI cable?

As a test, can you try a different project resolution? ie NTSC or 1080i 59.94/29.97?

Since the firmware kicked in only after changing PCIe slots, can you try uninstalling and reinstalling the MXO2 Mini drivers?

We also have an MXO2 beta driver for use with Avid MC 6.0.1. You can find the beta 3.0.1 driver here which resolves certain issues with MXO2 and Avid: http://forum.matrox.com/mxo/viewtopic.php?t=8049

Please let us know your results.

I gave up on the HDMI and just ran the component out. I now can view the video. However, when I ran my audio cables out of the matrox box and into my mixer I am not getting audio. I can see that I have audio within Avid, but it's simply not going through the cables into my mixer properly. I know the mixer is working because I can play iTunes through it.

Any help? This has been incredibly frustrating...

Can you please test by-passing the mixer? Just connect a set of self-amplified speakers or headphones directly to the MXO2 audio output. Please let us know if the audio works when connected in this manner.

Sorry about that. Didn't need to try your suggestions. I restarted and it's now channeling the audio properly. I have a great graphics card in this computer, but I also had one of those elgato peripherals plugged into the usb hub from when I was capturing some old vhs tapes. I think that may have caused the conflict.
