Hi guys,

Trouble in MXO land again, and this time I'm stumped.

I can't get any playback out of Final Cut Pro 7. When I try, I get maybe one or two frames on my Cinema Display, and then it freezes. However, I've been getting a black screen most of the time. The FCP canvas window loops and stutters like crazy(audio is fine). I turned off Canvas mirroring, which didn't help the MXO output.

When I discovered the problem, I launched the Matrox Pref Panel (in system preferences), and loaded a test clip into the Virtual Bezel setup window (it's the fastest and easiest way to playback a clip without using Final Cut Pro or other host app). I was met with the same black screen. No playback... so I don't think it's just Final Cut Pro.

I've updated to the latest (lion friendly) firmware and drivers. I've power cycled the MXO, and rebooted several times. It worked fine the last time I used it a few months back, but as we all know, the MXO can freak out when the wind blows.

Anyone got any suggestions? I'd appreciate any suggestions!

Thanks!

I'm running my MXO with an early 2008 Mac Pro (8 processors & 18gb ram, Lion 10.7.2)

P.S. I should mention that I can still view my desktop just fine when the MXO is not attempting to output video. In other words, my Cinema Display isn't ALWAYS black... just when I'm outputting video. Sad

Sorry for missing your post.

Please try the following:

    1. Disconnect the MXO USB cable from the MAC

    2. Run the MXO Uninstaller application located in: Applications -> Matrox MXO Utilities

    3. Run the following MXO Manual Uninstall Procedure:

    - In Finder, go to: /System/Library/Extensions
    - Delete the MXOAudioDriver.kext file

    - In Finder, press Shift+Cmd+G (Go -> Go to Folder) and type: /usr/libexec
    - Delete the MxoDeviceController.app

    - In the Finder folder dialog, type: /tmp
    - Delete the MXOAgent.plist file
    - Delete the MXODaemon.plist file
    - Delete the MXOFPGAUpdater.app file

    4. Shut down the MAC

    5. Re-connect the MXO USB cable to the MAC. Verify that A/C power is connected to the MXO. Then power up the MAC. The blue LED on the MXO should turn ON.

    6. Run a MAC Software Update and apply any Pro Applications updates.

    7. Load the MAC system profiler. You should see a 'MXO by Matrox' device listed under the USB category. If it is there, then download latest Matrox driver for your OSX and install.

If you still have issues, please call us during support hours so we can remote into your system and try a different procedure.
