MC6 on Snow Leopard -- MX02mini not available...?

Hey All -- I just upgraded to MC6 however I didn't upgrade the OS (I had to downgrade from Lion to Snow Leopard).

...is there something I'm not seeing in MC6? I don't have the video output tool option... the driver from Matrox that supports MC6 is Lion only.

....ideas?

**** major issues when using Lion on my MacPro so upgrading to Lion is REALLY not an option for me -- especially during my current project ****

many people tell me to left matrox and use AJA in the future

Hi johnjnicholls,

The MXO2 3.0 drivers only support Avid MC6 and Lion OSX configuration. Other OS versions have not been validated or certified, therefore you may encounter issues with unsupported configurations.

This is mentioned on our Download Software section:
Installs the Matrox MXO2 v3.0 (build 71) software for Mac OS X Lion only (10.7.2). This software supports Avid Media Composer v6.0 only.

Please also note Avid MC6 supports Lion only as well.
If you would need a 32-bit OS, you will need Avid MC5.5 as mentioned on their System Requirements section. http://www.avid.com/US/products/media-composer

What are the issues you are seeing when upgrading to Lion?

MC6 works fine and faster on snow leopard

but without matrox :- (

see AJA working well on SL with MC6

Have you been able to try Lion 10.7.2 with Avid MC6 with and without MXO2 3.0 drivers?

Hello Sam -- here's the thing, Lion is quite buggy and I need a stable solution as I really can't worry about the system not working correctly when i'm sitting with clients.

Avid 6 runs on SL
FCP 7 runs on SL

I can even run some of your drivers that say they only work on Lion.. yet they run in SL...

are there any plans to support Avid 6 on SL with your product or do I go out and purchase a competitors product that does...?

As mentioned by Avid link above, Lion is the official qualified OS for Avid MC6. However, the installer does not prevent you from using SL 10.6.8.
This is the same for Matrox MXO2 drivers. The official supported OS is Lion for Avid MC6 using MXO2 3.0 software.

Currently, we do not have official support for Snow Leopard with Avid MC6 and MXO2. The Avid MC6 and MXO2 installer does not prevent the user from running Snow Leopard OSX, however, this is not the recommended configuration.

There's my problem exactly...

your drivers are not qualified to work on SL but they do -- I'm running the 2.4 matrox driver and during the install process it doesn't give me any issue... have run it since it's been available with FCP7 and absolutely NO issues, no lags nothing....

the 3.0 driver comes up with an error message upon install that says it will not run on anything but 10.7

I love this matrox MX02 mini... I even bought one with MAX and it's great as well...

Can't we release one that won't give me this error message upon install??? even Avid will simply give me a warning that 10.7 is the recommended OS but it won't just NOT work.

AJA and Blackmagic have cards that will work with Avid 6 in Snow Leopard.
