M202 LE connectivity

Hi

I want to purchase the MX02 LE (or possibly Mini) for use with a university video edit suite (yet to be built). We'll be getting a new Mac Pro and be using Final Cut Pro 7.

We want to use an HDTV as a broadcast monitor as we can't afford a real one! Want to take advantage of MX02 LE's HDMI calibration capabilities.

However, we also want to be able to use the HDTV to mirror the Mac Pro's desktop (as well as video monitor through Final Cut). But I'm finding it difficult to find an HDTV with a computer (vga etc) input.

My question: Can we use the MX02 LE (or Mini) to output the Mac Pro's display to the HDTV. eg convert computer display signal to HDMI or another input on the HDTV. Could we switch from outputted video signal from Final Cut to mirrored computer desktop?

More importantly, will the students and other users tolerate having to go over to the HDTV to hit a button every time they want to switch the display?

Hello Ben and thank you for your interest in Matrox products. In order to take advantage of Matrox's HDMI's calibration capabilities you will need a monitor that meets our requirements: http://www.matrox.com/video/en/support/mac/mxo2/system/monitors/

The Matrox MXO2 family of products do not mirror the desktops. You might need another product in conjuction with this such as our Matrox ConvertDVI http://www.matrox.com/video/en/products/mac/convert_dvi_family/ or a DualHead2Go http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/th2go/mxo2/
