|

Hi all iPad 2 users,
After some investigation, it appears that the Apple iPad 2 outputs 1080p at 60 frames per second. The Matrox MXO2 units don't support that frame rate, at that resolution.
However, iPad 2 does detect this, and then "asks" the MXO2 if it can support 720p at 60 fps, which the Matrox MXO2 does support.
One other thing we seemed to notice is that Apples technical specifications state that both the camera's recording and the video out support, are 720p 30 fps. So while the iPad 2 does output at 60fps, it looks like they are just 30 frames in 60, or in other words, there appears to be repeated/doubled frames).
It is then recommended to set the MXO2 to 720p 30fps when trying to capture from the Apple iPad 2.
If you are disappointed that you can't use the 1080 resolution, remember that the iPad 2 does not have native 1920 x 1080 desktop nor support 1080 as a native video playback. The iPad 2 actually has to upscale and stretch the video from it's original resolution just get to 1080. This could lead to less quality of course. Overall, it is best to use 720, but that is just my suggestion.
I hope this helps. _________________ -Mac

Also, if you don't see any video being captured, please reboot the Ipad2. _________________ Regards,
