|
|
Hello Matrox engineers!
With v1.9.2 and a 1080 25P project, HDMI gives me a 1080 50i output.
Is this true 1080 50i or 1080 25 psf?
With v2.2.1 and a 1080 25P project, HDMI will only give me 1080 25P output.
Whether channel 1 is set to follow application or '1080' it is the same.
This is no good for me - it won't display on my Plasma.
So I am going to have to roll back the firmware version, and Avid version if necessary.
Do I need to go back to v1.9.2, or can I use 2.0, 2.1 or 2.2.0 to get back my 50i HDMI output?
Thanks in advance |

Which version of Avid are you using? Is it the new 5.5.1? Because this is the only version supported with Matrox 2.2.1 drivers. If you are using the older Avid version, then you need to use Matrox driver 1.9.2.
If you are using the latest Avid 5.5.1 with Matrox 2.2.1, the list of supported formats can be found on the Avid FAQ site: http://avid.custkb.com/avid/app/selfservice/search.jsp?DocId=366347&NewLang=en#a6 _________________ Regards,

I just found your other thread: http://forum.matrox.com/mxo/viewtopic.php?t=6015
I see that you upgraded Avid to 5.2.2. The Matrox 2.2.1 driver is strictly for Avid MC 5.5.1. So this could be causing odd issues. If you revert back to Matrox driver 1.9.1 (or 1.9.2), does your 5.2.2 output correctly? _________________ Regards,

No, Avid locks up on opening with 1.92 drivers.
I will use whichever version of Avid [5.0.3.7r or 5.51 or 5.5.2] is necessary to get the MX02 outputting 50i or 25psf - whatever it was doing under 1.92 and MC 5.0.3.7r.
Can you tell me which of these the MX02 WAS outputting?
Thanks

The Matrox site -http://www.matrox.com/video/en/press/releases/mxo2_mini_for_avid_media_composer/ - says
"Media Composer V5.5 adds support for new 720p and 1080p workflows with Matrox MXO2 Mini including the ability to select PsF or true P output in 1080p modes."
Does anybody know where you can select this?
I'm hoping that selecting PsF will get my Plasma working again.
thanks for any advice... |

I know I'm talking to myself here, but anyway...
Apparently it's a console command with MC on Macs, that you have to enter every time you open a project
And trawling through all the readmes for each firmware version, it seems that version 2.1 is the last one to output PsF for 1080 25P.
I guess I'll have to roll back to v5.0.3. and v2 Matrox drivers, as I can't afford new client monitors.
How ironic that the 'improvement' in MX02 mini performance leaves me worse off.... |

Is this true 1080 50i or 1080 25 psf? |
According to our user guide, the MXO2 will output 1080PsF 25 provided you have the video output settings set to 'follow application' or '1080'. It is supported through the HDMI & Component outputs of the MXO2.
This is true as long as we maintain the proper Avid/Matrox driver combination; which in this case is Avid 5.0.1 and Matrox 1.9.2.
How are you determining an output of 1080i 50?

It outputs 1080p 25 (true p, not PsF) through HDMI only. This is true as long as we maintain the proper Avid/Matrox driver combination; which in this case is Avid 5.5.1 and Matrox 2.2.1.
Therefore, it would appear that your monitor does not supported true 25p but does support 25PsF. Can you confirm this with the specifications of the monitor manufacturer? _________________ Regards,

Hi Joe

|
The auto detect on the plasma, which displays on screen and auto-updates as sources change.
This means the plasma is seeing the 25PsF [as 50i], since it displays the picture ok
FWIW the plasma always detects the MX02 output as 480p on startup, before I load a project, then it changes to the relevant format.

Correct. I believe that the whole point of PsF is to display P material on equipment that can only handle interlaced material?
So I have currently had to go back to MC v5.0.3.9, with MX02 v 2.1 and Mac OS 10.6.6.
It is a shame for me that while the PC MX02 control panel apparently allows you to choose between 25PsF and 25P, the Mac control panel does not.
Are there any plans to improve this?
Thanks

I will look into this.
I know you've already reverted back to an older Avid/Matrox driver combination that outputs 1080PsF. However, just curious if the console command was working for you with the Avid 5.5.1/Matrox 2.2.1 combination?
The console command I'm referring to is:
in Avid>>>Tools>>> Console:
Togglepsf false (This will disable psf output, and output real P)
or
Togglepsf true (This will enable psf output, and output PsF) _________________ Regards,

Hi Joe
I was using MC v5.5.2 and the console command "TogglePsF", which seemed to work.
However I was told I would need to enter it each time I opened the project up.

I've forwarded this to the appropriate channels. Hopefully we or Avid can implement an easier method for switching between P and PsF format. I appreciate your feedback. _________________ Regards,

Hi Everyone,
I encountered the same problem last week and it was a nightmare till i found that the console command 'togglepsf' could fix this problem.
Hope Avid can solve this issue soon. It is so frustrating to face these kind of puzzle like problems in every update. Is there anything we can do to make Avid fix this issue faster?
