can't get client monitor output since upgrade

Using 1.92 drivers and MC 5.0.3 I was able to work in 1080/25p projects and get 1080 HDMI output to my Panasonic Plasma client monitor.
The Plasma won't accept 1080/25p and would describe the input feed as 1080 50i.

Now I upgraded to MC5.2.2 and 2.2.1 drivers.
If I set the main channel to follow application, the Plasma won't display at 1080/25p - blank screen.
Checking the Matrox readme it says I can set the main channel to 1080, and this will output either 1080i or 1080PsF, depending on project setting. But still the Plasma won't display.

So what was the MX02 outputting previously - 1080 50i or 1080 25psf?
And why won't it do that now with the new driver?
Any advice appreciated.

Mac OS 10.6.6, MC5.2.2, Matrox driver 2.2.1, Mac Pro [Westmere] 2 x 2.4Ghz Quad cores, 6Gb RAM, HDMI output to Panasonic TX-P42S20B.
