Hi All,
Is it in the pipeline? Seems Avid is letting AJA race ahead. I bought Matrox mini early thinking this would happen soon. I like Matrox and really don't want to move. You might not be able to give details, but "should I stay or should i go?" Alway wanted to get the Clash into a post!
Thanks,
TM

What is your current Matrox driver version?

Avid Media Composer 5.5.1 has been in support since the release of Matrox driver 2.2.0.

You can simply install the latest driver (2.2.1.0042) as well.

Please verify that your Avid version is indeed 5.5.1 (not 5.5.0) or else it will not work.

Hi Joe,
I am using Avid MC 5.5.2 with your latest drivers (the matrox supported, not avid). Can I ingest now and out put to disc now? I just didn't want to use your box for a preview monitor only, I was hoping that it would work like the "other guys" box.
Thanks,
TM
PS: sorry about the typo in the header, it was late..

It's all good. My apologies for not noticing that you had also mentioned input (capture) in your thread title.

Regarding capture, it's a good question. Unfortunately we in tech support currently do not have any more information than what is already mentioned in the Avid FAQ.

So yes you can ingest (capture) but not directly in Avid. You need to use the Matrox Vetura capture application that is installed with the driver (located in the Matrox Utilities application group). It is able to bring in your video clips directly into DNxHD. Then you can just simply import them into Avid without the need for transcoding.

Regarding MAX encoding, it is currently available on MAC only.

To encode to a H.264 file using Matrox MAX:

From Avid MC 5.5.1:

Load Timeline
File -> Export -> Options
Export as: 'Quicktime Movie'
Click on 'Custom' then on 'Format Options'
Click on Video 'Settings'
Set Compression Type to 'Matrox MAX H.264'
Setup other values as needed
Then start encode by clicking 'Save'

Just tested it quickly here and worked perfectly. Let me know if you get the same result.
