Hi P.
The installation instructions are as follows (quoted from the Installation and User Guide):
| Quote: | The Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter is designed to operate in your laptop's ExpressCard/34 slot.
You must shut down your laptop before installing the Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter. To install the Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter, connect the Matrox PCIe cable to the host ExpressCard/34 adapter, and then insert the host adapter in your laptop's ExpressCard/34 slot until the adapter clicks into place.
You must shut down your laptop before removing the Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter from your laptop's ExpressCard/34 slot.
Important: Don not disconnect the PCIe cable from the Matrox PCIe host ExpressCard/34 adapter when your laptop is running |
If you are using an ExpressCard/34 slot on your desktop PC to connect your Matrox MXO2 Mini (rather than using the direct Matrox PCIe adapter) then one would assume you just substitute the term "desktop" for wherever it says "laptop" above. If you have a Mini with the ExpressCard/34 adapter option, but would like to use instead the direct connect PCIe host card adaptor then you can actually buy that as a separate item from Matrox or any good reseller.
Best

Thank you Andy! Thank you for the instructions. Note: these are the same instructions that came with my unit.
The reason I asked the question is that my PC can't see the Mini when I plug the Matrox ExpressCard connector into my PC's ExpressCard slot. Thought there might be some different instructions required for the non-Matrox PCIe card. Allow me to rephrase the question.
Has anyone been successful using Matrox ExpressCard adapter in a non-Matrox PCIe ExpressCard mounted on a PC?
I have an Express Card Adaptor on my PC. My Win-XP sees the PCIe-card but doesn't see the Mini. I installed all the Matrox software on the computer including the updates. Turned off the PC, then plugged the Matrox ExpressCard into my PC, turned on the Mini, then the PC. The PC rebooted but doesn't see the Mini. The Matrox M shows in the bottom right, when I open the software or check device manager neither can see the Mini. If someone has been successful using a PC ExpressCard with the Matrox Expresscard connector I will begin to wonder if there is a problem with my Mini.
I bought the Mini with the ExpressCard adapter to use on my Win-Vista laptop but missed the fact that Matrox requires Vista Ultimate or Business (I am using Vista Home Premium). By being on this forum, it is noted that some people have been successful using Vista Premium but I have not been able to duplicate that success. |
