Hello Kyphos and thank you for your interest in Matrox products. The Matrox DS1 has a DVI output resolution of 1920 X 1200 and a HDMI resolution of 1920 X 1080. Unfortunately the Matrox DS1 does not out put that high of a resolution.
regards,
JD

I have a question regarding the DVI. I'm a video Dj and with these new MacBooks you have to by a special converter box when displaying your video output onto the television screens because of the digital output they now have. The older MacBooks had an analog DVI out, so all I needed was a DVI to composite adapter and that was it.
So, my question here is if I were to purchase the dock with DVI would I be able to eliminate the need for that converter box? Or is the DVI output on the dock digital which means I would probably still need it... |

Hi Marc and thank you for your interest in Matrox products. We have two versions of this the DVI and the HDMI, the DVI outputs a computer resolution of 1920 X 1200. The HDMI version has a resolution of 1920 X 1080. You will need a converter to make either of these composite which is 480i or 640X480. I would however suggest you get the HDMI version and use it with an affordable HDMI monitor for your desired workflow, you will be getting a much better signal out of your computer.
regards,
JD
