Hi,
In between jobs and edit system is almost empty, would like to start next project on CS4. and Vista. Is any infomation relating to compatibility of data files in CS3-32bit files and 64 bit Vista files?
I am now urgent to load CS4 while empty for next4 days.
Is there any word on Matrox codec 4 release date in February?
On our 1920 HD 422 projects we have serious memory problems on all 3 matrox systems. We have tried all forum suggestions.
thanks

Hi Bill,
As far as we here in Tech Support know, the target release for the 4.0 drivers is still scheduled for February. Please feel free to check the announcements section of the user forums or our website for more information as it becomes available.
In regards to compatibility of data files, any clips you captured on a CS3 32-bit O/S system should play back without problems on a CS4 and 64-bit system.
Regards,
Matthew |

These drivers are taking way too long. Again. A Matrox story as old as time.
We can't tell our customers to just wait and "please check back" because we lose them to editors with reliable systems. Why do you expect us to wait? We are your customers and you treat us with no respect - over and over again.
I am a LONGTIME Matrox user and, like many, this will be my last Matrox card. The down time is greater than the productive time by a long shot. Realtime is sort of irrelevant with months behind software waiting for drivers. Even with new promised drivers - they never work 100%. There is no support, this forum is useless and no one in the real world uses these cards so we are stuck relying on Matrox for help they never really give us. It's ridiculous.
And please stop locking forums just because you feel they are resolved. We, the customers, will decide that. Posting "please reinstall drivers" or "please feel free to check back for updates" is not resolved.
Fed up with this. I have a business to run and you are taking away from it, not adding to it. |

Hi FastTimes,
In our December 17th press release, which you can find here, we announced the Axio CS4 compatible driver release for February. I don't believe Matrox treats its customers with no respect. As we announced 3 months earlier, we are still on target for our February release. Please let us know if you have been informed otherwise.
We here in Tech Support we do our best to assist you with any questions and problems you have. When you purchased your board you received 6 months of complementary phone support. On top of this you have both the forums and email as means to contact us. If you are unsatisfied with these forms of support, remember that when you purchased your board you also had the opportunity to purchase additional phone support.
If you did not opt for the above options, you can always purchase a support token, valid for resolving 1 issue (whether this is a single 2 hour call or 5 separate 1 hour calls).
Regarding forum threads, we use our best judgment before locking a thread. Generally a thread is closed when the customer reports the issue has been resolved, or when Matrox has posted the resolution to the issue. This also allows other users to easily find answers to their questions when searching the forums without going through threads revisted months after a solution was found. If you believe there has been an error in closing the thread, feel free to post your issue again and reference the previous thread. We definitely want to know.
We hope your business continues to thrive using your Matrox products.
Best of luck and regards,
Matthew |

The journey has begun and so far it's not bad. I jumped to Vista 64 Ultimate and CS4 yesterday so I'm flying solo (I will be very excited to get Matrox back by my side as soon as the drivers for 64 bit arrive). I'm not planning to do much but log some tapes while awaiting the Matrox drivers (February), and the 20-GB of RAM that will arrive this week.
I just thought you all might like to know the driver updates for USB, firewire, motherboard, scsi drives, RAID--- everything---- worked out fine. I was up and running in less than 6-hours with a new operating system and CS4 installed. I hope my luck continues. |

Hi Rick,
Glad to hear the update process went smoothly for you.
When our CS4 compatible drivers are ready we will announce it on our website, the user forums and we will send all registered users an email.
Regards,
Matthew |

Hi Rick,
In 50 years time when we remember hero's of the past your name will surely come to the fore. It is a brave thing you are doing and I will follow your antics with great interest.
I was wondering will the Premiere CS4 capture files require rendering when you load the matrox codecs?

Hey Bill- I'll be sure to post mucho info about any difficulties or successes as soon as I get the 4.0. I installed CS4 on Sunday (4 days ago) and added 16GB of RAM yesterday. I have not had a single issue except that I have to render more often without Matrox Axio to help.
Not a single crash. Not a single hassle with 64 bit drivers for my other hardware. It was much smoother than some of the attempts and failures that I've had in the past simply trying to reload CS2 or CS3.
You're gonna love CS4 when yoiu get your hands on it. I didn't even know what all it offered, but the new render que for Premiere Pro is killer. I can stack up all of my exports to various formats and not only leave them to render all at once.... I can actually go back and work on my project in PPCS4 while they are exporting!!!
I did this with just 4GB of RAM and still no crashes. Now with 16GB and soon Matrox Utils 4.0---- it should be much better. |

Hi Rick,
I, too, thank you for posting this info. You're doing what I threatened to do but chickened out. My 8 core (4 gig) machine is very thirsty for more memory and an OS that knows what to do with it. I may now head down your path.
A question or two. You're using the standard Adobe Premiere (software only) presets, correct? Did you uninstall the Matrox 3.6 drivers? Or do they simply not get in the way if you don't use Matrox presets?
Thanks again for the info. I'm sure a load of folks are watching your progress. I'm thrilled to hear of your early successes!

Hi Rick,
Thank you for posting about your experiences on the Vista 64 install and performance when using CS4.
Hi Tim,
Remember that the 3.6 drivers only support Vista 32-bit, not 64-bit. Since Rick installed a full version of Vista 64-bit, I'm assuming he first formatted and then installed CS4 so he wouldn't have any Matrox drivers on there.
I'll now move this post to general discussions so more users can take part in discussing their experience with Vista 64 and CS4 without Matrox installed.
Regards,
Matthew |

Hi Matthew,
Thanks for the clarification. I think I'll wait for the verson 4 drivers since it seems like we're getting pretty close now. I'm pretty excited about the prospects of combining the power of the Axio LE along with Vista 64 and loads of memory!

| I am also running Vista Ultimate 64 bit, with 20GB Ram, dual quad core Xeons and CS4. Seems to work well. I have been getting some blue screens of death on bootup, but not consistently. Still chasing that one down. My old XP system with CS3 is still installed on a separate HD so I can dual boot. Anxiously awaiting the Matrox driver to see how that works. One thing I've been doing is using the Red Camera with the CS4 Red plugin which works great. I'm wondering if there will be a Matrox/red sequence resolution or if my red sequences will have to run without the Matrox hardware. I hope I can have both, but we'll see. |

Hello,
I have intalled Vista64 + AdobeCS4suite on Supermicro X7dwn-a, 2X4cores with 32 Go of Ram + External big4 2To raid Lacie + raid0 system 2Xvelociraptors.
That run very well and now i have memory to work on PPRO CS4 HD project.
At the moment (three months), i'm working without my AXIO LE Hardware until Axio 4 drivers come.
I hope too we could work with RED camera and Axio Hardware because RED Camera will be my next camera after my actual Sony EX3.
Wait and see.....
Rudo. |

| You guys are luckier than me, our CS4/Axio crashes all the time, as soon as we record a voice over it starts to hang .... and never stops until we kill the process. It really breaks my guts to pay so much money for a system and not be able to use it. Now we have to deinstall CS4 and go back to CS3. |
