I gather that a realtime TC effect has been made for the Axio LE. I am still using CS3 on my Axio SD. Is there a way to get access to the Matrox TimeCode effect so that I can use it with my set up?

Thanks

Hi Terry,

Can you confirm your Axio driver version and Premiere CS3 update?
The timecode effect is overloaded from Adobe's timecode for realtime use. You should have the timecode effect available in Adobe CS3 using the latest Axio 3.6 drivers.
See page 128 of the User Guide here: http://www.matrox.com/video/media/pdf/support/axio/doc/en_Matrox_Axio_Installation_and_User_Guide_36.pdf

We await your feedback.

Hi Sam,

I am using Utils 3.6. I am using the "Timecode" effect located in the "Video" tab, but it is most assuredly NOT realtime! I have selected the "Media" option in the TimeCode effects control.

My video is in the MXF format with embedded TC. The video is 1920P and was captured to a NanoFlash from a Sony EX-1 camera at 4:2:2 depth and 50 Mb/s to 80 Mb/s bit rate.

I can play this video in real time in a project with the MPeg 2I format. I can even Chromakey in real time. However, the "Timecode" effect brings the project to a crawl.

Any suggestions as to how to use the realtime TC effect?

I first checked the Matrox folder for a Timecode effect before using the Timecode effect located in the Video tab. Should I be looking elsewhere for your realtime effect?

Hi Terry,

Can you try using the "Clip" option in Timecode settings? The only realtime option with Timecode is Clip. The Media and Generate will require rendering.
Please take note this known feature: http://forum.matrox.com/axio/viewtopic.php?t=1680&highlight=timecode

Hi Sam,

I can run the "Clip" mode in real time. Unfortunately, "Clip" is the least useful mode for the TC effect.

I know that others have requested making the TC effect truly realtime across all functions, so I won't beat it to death here since the entire Axio line is now legacy.

Thanks for your help.

Terry

Thanks Terry for the update. Yes, as you mentioned the Axio is now legacy and unlikely new features will be implemented.
